The Monarch, located in Montecito, is seeking applicants for a hosting position. We are looking for serious inquiries and applicants with prior hosting experience only. As the first person whom our guests will be greeted by, we expect our hosts to have a large, gracious personality while at the same time maintaining a level of professionalism that our guests have come to expect.
Minimum of 1 year experience hosting.
Must have experience on some form of table management, OpenTable, Resy, Yelp.
Please come prepared with some knowledge of our restaurant group, Scratch Restaurants, and have questions ready.
Hourly + Tips.
Below are some examples of what is required of our hosts :
Hosts are the first point of contact for the guests and patrons when entering the
restaurant. In addition to overseeing the flow in the dining room, host's
are responsible for all of the elements and parameters that may affect
the guests experience, such as the room temperature, lighting, volume of the music,
well being of any plants, and overall appearance of the restaurant.
Daily Tasks
1. Check voicemails, and return all calls and emails regarding reservations and inquiries.
2. Scrutinize the book/spread of reservations, planning out seating arrangements for
the evening.
3. Alert appropriate server to any pre-disclosed dietary needs, restrictions, preferences
or allergies where known.
4. Check all menus and wine lists for cleanliness. Reprint and re-stuff menus where
needed to ensure enough for the days service.
5. Evaluate appropriate temperature for the heating/cooling unit and adjust as
necessary.
6. Fold napkins, polish silverware, help set the dining room.
7. Check all glassware, both water and wine for spots or smudges. Confirm that all pre-set glassware at the end of the evening is clean, polished and ready for the following day.
8. Wipe down and polish all windows in the restaurant to ensure theyre free of
smudges, fingerprints, etc (inside and outside)
9. Check all chairs and tables to ensure theyre clean and ready for service at the
beginning and end of the shift (as well as during table turns).
10. Spot check the floors to make sure theyve been properly swept and cleaned,
without debris on the floor or visible dirt.
11. Track and leave permanent notes in reservation platform for return guests and
regulars (ie water preference, alcoholic beverage preference) where possible.
12. Regular checks (at least every half hour) on the bathroom for paper product stock,
cleanliness, etc. Ensuring its always clean and stocked.
13. During service, run food, wine, bus tables, polish glassware, reset tables, pour water
and any other responsibilities necessary to ensure the best possible experience for the
diners, and the smoothest service for the kitchen and FOH team.
