Nurse / Health Service Provider / Certified Athletic Trainer

Position Summary:

The Health Service Provider / Nurse / Certified Athletic Trainer is responsible for coordinating Besant Hill's overall Healthcare needs. This includes injury prevention, evaluation, management and treatment of illnesses and or injuries and may include short and long term rehabilitation of injuries and the education of students on health related matters. In this role you are responsible for health care administration in consultation with the Director of Student and Residential Life, Business Officer and local physicians.

Education and Certification:

-Bachelor's degree in appropriate major (accredited athletic training program)

-Masters degree is a plus

-National Certification (ATC)

-Current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer certification (CPR instructor certification preferred)

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Order, maintain, inventory supplies and clinical equipment.

-Keep health services area clean, safe, organized and with compliance of OSHA regulations.

-Maintain student medical records and submit injury reports when needed - done with HIPPA compliance.

-Supervise students with illness/injuries.

-Demonstrate interpersonal skills required to work effectively with faculty, staff, administration and, most importantly students.

-Establish and enforce key components of the schools Emergency Action Plan as directed by the Head of School and Business Officer.

-Secure, organize and maintain student health and permission to treat forms in the Health Center in conjunction with the Student Affairs office.

-Establish relationships and communications with local physicians, hospitals, and Emergency Medical personnel.

-Report status of injured/ill students to the Head of School on a regular basis as directed by the Student Affairs Office.

-Determine (with Physician when appropriate) a student’s ability to participate in school activities such as athletics in conjunction with the Student Affairs Office.

-Coordinate medical coverage of all home athletic games with the Director of Athletics.

-Assist Fitness instructors and coaches with weight training and conditioning programs of students enrolled in those classes/teams.

Secondary Responsibilities:

-Expectation that the Heath Service Provider will be involved in dormitory, activity, and/or any other normal duties required in a boarding school environment.

-Attend all required school commitments such as meetings, meals, performances and activities.

-Ability to assist student's with heath and wellness questions
