A Carpinteria cut flower grower and shipper is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team. If you have prior experience in this area and are skilled at working on a wide variety of equipment, vehicles and facilities, both indoors and outdoors, then this position may be for you.
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic will perform general repairs and maintenance of all farm facilities and equipment. This position will work closely with management and must be willing to learn and adapt to the needs of the business. This role is critical to ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Performs preventive maintenance inspections and service on machines, equipment and vehicles.
Performs regular maintenance and repairs on farm facilities, greenhouses, hoop houses, and outdoor structures.
Performs installation, maintenance and repairs on farm irrigation systems.
Records and reports damaged, worn, or broken parts.
Orders and installs replacement parts as needed.
Identifies the causes of unexpected breakdowns of machines, equipment and vehicles.
Performs repairs quickly and efficiently.
Prepares reports documenting work performed.
Cleans, organizes, inventories, stocks, and otherwise maintains shop areas, parts, tools, and supplies.
Coordinates with managers to schedule regular maintenance as needed.
Assists with facility improvement and expansion.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Previous farm maintenance experience.
Great problem-solving skills.
Works well independently and with others.
Good communication skills.
Organized with attention to detail.
Ability to work in a fast-paced and stressful environment.
Bilingual required, English and Spanish
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Physical Requirements:
Excellent personal fitness, this is a highly physical job.
Must be comfortable working in a farm environment, both indoors and out.
Must be comfortable working on underground piping, on a greenhouse roof, and everything in between.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
