Job Summary
Norman’s Nursery is seeking a skilled and experienced pesticide sprayer who specializes in executing safe and effective pesticide applications in a nursery setting. The ideal candidate will have the ability to identify various plant species, pests, and weeds to ensure the proper use of pesticides and fertilizers.
Duties and Responsibilities
Identifies plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers.
Prepare recipes, solutions, and equipment in a safe manner to provide appropriate fertilizer application for proper crop development.
Mix and spray fertilizers or herbicides onto crops using hand or tractor sprayers.
Administer correct handling, transporting, storage and disposal procedures for chemicals used in a safe manner.
Prepare and submit reports on chemical applications.
Cover areas to specified depths with pesticides, applying knowledge of weather condition, droplet sizes, elevation-to-distance ratios, and obstructions.
Fill sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas.
Lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designed areas.
Clean and service machinery to ensure operating efficiency, using water, gasoline, lubricants, and/or hand tools.
Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
Extensive knowledge of chemicals/pesticides.
Minimum 2 years of experience handling chemicals and pesticides.
Operates a variety of tools and equipment, including but not limited to spraying machine.
Able to follow verbal and written instructions.
Frequently required to work under inclement weather conditions, hot and cold temperatures.
Ability to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines.
