Position Summary
The Assistant Warehouse Manager supports the daily operations of the warehouse in a construction homebuilder business. This role ensures materials, tools, and finished components are efficiently received, stored, organized, and distributed to production areas. The position involves both supervisory responsibilities and hands-on warehouse work to maintain smooth production flow and timely project completion.

Key Responsibilities
1. Warehouse Operations
Assist in planning and coordinating daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory control, and dispatch.
Ensure materials (lumber, steel frames, panels, fixtures, hardware, etc.) are correctly labeled, stored, and accessible for production teams.
Support assembly and staging of pre-fabricated components for outgoing delivery.
Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment in compliance with company and OSHA standards.
2. Inventory & Materials Management
Monitor inventory levels to prevent shortages or overstock situations.
Assist in conducting regular stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
Work with purchasing and production departments to ensure timely delivery of materials.
Identify damaged or missing goods and report discrepancies promptly.
3. Leadership & Coordination
Foster effective communication between warehouse, production, and logistics teams.
4. Logistics & Documentation
Prepare and verify shipping and receiving documentation (bills of lading, packing lists, purchase orders).
Coordinate with transport partners for material and finished unit deliveries.
Maintain accurate warehouse records in the inventory management system.
5. Continuous Improvement
Recommend and implement process improvements to increase warehouse efficiency and reduce material waste.
Support the adoption of lean manufacturing and 5S organizational practices.

Qualifications & Skills
Education & Experience
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or vocational training in logistics, warehouse management, or construction preferred.
2–4 years of experience in warehouse operations, ideally in construction, modular, or pre-fabricated housing industries.
Experience with forklift operation and warehouse management systems (WMS) preferred.
Skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Good leadership and communication skills.
Basic computer literacy (Excel, inventory software, email).
Ability to lift and move heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
Knowledge of construction materials and manufacturing processes is a plus.
