Summary
Machinists perform a skilled role to ensure the proper cut of metals of custom door and window systems. Machinists are key members of a team which are responsible for operating manual machine tools to produce precision metal parts using blueprints, sketches, or CAD files.
Essential Functions
Prepares and operates vertical mill machines
Machines metal parts according to blueprints or CAD files
Ensures equipment is in good working order and properly calibrated
Inspects finished parts for accuracy and defects, using measuring instruments
Troubleshoots issues during the machining process and adjusts to achieve desires results
Competencies
Technical Capacity – Proficient use of milling machines, measuring tape, and precision instruments such as calipers.
Problem Solving/Analysis – Ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining challenges effectively.
Collaboration Skills – Demonstrates teamwork and flexibility in assisting other departments and supporting company-wide goals.
Professionalism – Maintains a high level of professionalism when interacting with fellow employees.
Education – High school diploma or trade school certification (preferred).
Experience – 2+ years of machining experience.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
The work environment includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Noise levels are generally low to moderate.
Physical Demands
The job requires standing, frequent movement, and lifting of steel door and window systems, safe use of hand tools, standing for extended periods, and general physical stamina. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
