Westerlay Orchids is seeking a Part-Time Retail Sales Associate for the Retail Store
Job purpose:
The Retail Sales Associate provides customer service, maintains the shop, and performs plant care, reporting to the Retail Manager. Requires the ability to multitask and respond to changing priorities throughout the day. Must be able to work independently and as a team with retail staff. Floral design is a plus!
Duties and responsibilities:
Provide excellent customer service and enjoy working with the public.
Provide exceptional care for orchids, succulents, and foliage houseplants.
Accurately and quickly handle cash, credit, debit, and check sales transactions.
Must learn and retain information about the merchandise, policies, and procedures.
Communicate accurately to both customers and coworkers and work well with other employees.
Perform all sales duties along with maintaining the shop, inventory, and stocking.
Take initiative to maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked shop environment.
Qualifications:
Minimum 1-year retail experience including customer service and cashiering.
Experience with or ability to learn the POS system.
Prior nursery or floral background preferred.
Knowledge or interest in plants and plant care a plus.
Basic computer and phone skills.
Must be able to work Saturdays
Working conditions:
Work is performed inside our retail store
Physical Demands:
Constantly standing, walking, bending, and lifting; rarely sitting.
Carrying customer's sleeved and boxed plants and loading merchandise into their cars.
Pushing carts of plants.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a Part-Time non-exempt (hourly) position.
Store hours are Monday- Friday (8:30am-5pm) and Saturday (9:30am-4:30pm)
