Looking to hire immediately for a Chemist position. Job details are listed below.SUMMARY: Conducts quantitative analysis of drinking water and other samples using EPA methods to test for low-level radioactivity.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned): Prepares calibration standards and samples and performs various radiochemical analyses. Collects, interprets, and validates sample data to be reported to clients. Keeps records of sample batch analyses including quality control summaries. Performs and documents routine maintenance of instrument systems such as gas flow proportional counters, liquid scintillation counters, EC meters, etc Provides information to clients who have questions about their sample data.Work Environment: Shift - M-F 8 hours a day, 1st shift, flexible with hours The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. There is often a low to moderate level of background noise in the work environment.Qualifications: QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in chemistry or closely related field AND Laboratory Experience Ability to use personal computers, common computer software such as LOTUS-123, and word processing programs. Familiarity with scientific and technical terminology. Ability to work with small hand tools required in the performance of routine instrument system maintenance.
