Job Title: Counter Sales Representative – Construction Materials
Pay Range: $20-$25/hr
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Counter Sales Representative with a background in construction. This role will serve as the first point of contact for contractors, builders, and walk-in customers, assisting them with product selection, order processing, and general support.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and assist customers at the sales counter, providing product information and recommendations tailored to construction needs
Process orders accurately (in person, phone, and email) and coordinate with the warehouse team for fulfillment
Prepare quotes, invoices, and sales tickets in the POS system
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction materials, tools, and industry trends
Support inventory management by monitoring stock levels and assisting with cycle counts
Build strong relationships with contractors and trade professionals to encourage repeat business
Handle returns, exchanges, and warranty inquiries promptly and professionally
Collaborate with outside sales and operations teams to meet customer needs
Qualifications:
Prior experience in construction, building materials, or related industry (required)
Previous sales, counter, or customer service experience preferred
Strong product knowledge of construction supplies (lumber, fasteners, tools, safety gear, etc.)
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in basic computer applications and POS systems
Dependable, detail-oriented, and team player
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods
Comfortable working in a warehouse/yard environment as needed
