Our nonprofit client in North County seeks a dedicated Accountant to join their mission-driven organization. As the Accountant, you will play an essential role in ensuring accurate financial management to support the organization’s meaningful work. You’ll handle a variety of accounting tasks, such as processing transactions, preparing financial reports, and working closely with leadership to maintain fiscal responsibility. The role requires not only strong technical accounting skills but also an understanding of nonprofit financial regulations and grant accounting. Oversee and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll; process transactions accurately and efficiently.
Prepare financial reports, including those for grants and funder requirements, with an emphasis on compliance.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations and ensure the general ledger is accurate and balanced.
Support the annual audit process, including preparation of financial documentation and schedules.
Collaborate with program managers to monitor budget variances and ensure proper allocation of funds.
Assist in preparing and filing 990 tax forms and other reports required for nonprofit organizations.
Stay updated on nonprofit accounting policies and regulations to ensure compliance at all times.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting principles and Uniform Guidance (formerly OMB A-133).
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks Nonprofit, Sage Intacct) and advanced understanding of Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
