Structures teams at the Southern California Global Design Center (SCGDC), located in Long Beach, are seeking Experienced Payloads Structural Analyst with broad knowledge of Boeing design, stress analysis, certification, and engineering principles.

Join our team and make an immediate impact on the rapidly growing aviation industry (both production and post-production modification programs), work on the next generation airliner, or support space/satellite programs. Stress analysis will consider static strength and fatigue life of primary and secondary structure across the fleet of Boeing platforms and will be required to comply with all applicable FARs. Here at the SCGDC, you will be able to combine the deep expertise and resources of the entire Boeing enterprise with the flexibility and fast pace of a small company setting. Primary Responsibilities

  • Performs detailed structural analysis to determine structural integrity (margins of safety), using classical techniques and Boeing tools. This analysis supports responses to customer inquiries, service bulletin development, failure investigation, regulatory agency coordination and to show compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Guides structural design and configuration development.
  • Performs trade studies to optimize structure and meet program requirements.
  • Develops, deploys, and supports in-house and commercial application software to enable efficient performance of engineering tasks.
  • Integrates component-level structural models and perform integrated analysis, using finite element methods, to develop internal loads and stresses in order to verify structural integrity.
  • Documents structural analyses and data required to show compliance with Boeing, customer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leads resolution of technical, operational, and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite on Long Beach, California.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Basic Qualifications (Required):
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 7+ years of experience in structures/payloads engineering.
  • Experience using excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate with leaders and colleagues in an engineering environment.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 9+ years of experience in performing aircraft stress analysis/structural analysis.
  • 5+ years of experience in structural analysis methods and tools such as Finite Element Analysis.
  • 5+ years of experience with design and analysis of metallic and composite materials.
  • 1+ years of experience with durability and damage tolerance analysis.
