Read CU Anschutz Quick Facts here.The AHWC resides within the School of Medicine at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. The AWHC is an interdisciplinary center that has become the nation’s go-to source of information and programs related to health and wellness. Top researchers work side-by-side with clinicians to develop and deliver wellness and weight loss programs and work with community interventionists to take these programs beyond the walls of the center into communities. The mission of the center is “to transform the lives of individuals and communities through science-based wellness strategies.”The vision of the center is “a world empowered by wellness.” All endeavors at the center are focused on this vision. An integrated approach with a common philosophy is core to the development of the center’s programs. These programs strive to involve every area of the business, including wellness clinic services, the fitness center, and the metabolic and demonstration kitchens. Without this integration it is not possible to achieve the vision that catalyzed the development of the AHWC. The center serves as a “learning lab” for creating a model of standard care for wellness centers that can be replicated and exported.Nature of Work:This full-time position is responsible for providing professional HR support and guidance to all employees and supervisors as well as Center leadership. This role is responsible for ensuring a workforce that is productive, engaged and developed. There are approximately 120 employees (80 full-time equivalents) working in many different businesses such as Fitness, Dieticians, Clinicians and Researchers – each with their own nuances. This position will work with the School of Medicine Human Resources Shared Services unit to ensure that all employee concerns from recruitment to off boarding are addressed in a professional, timely and compliant manner.Examples of Work Performed:

Main liaison with the School of Medicine Human Resource Shared Services (HRSS) which performs most HCM (Human Capital Management) entries and processing with campus Human Resource office as well as CU Careers.

Ensures employees, in conjunction with supervisors, are on-boarded to CU and the Center in a welcoming fashion as well as ensuring the off-boarding process is completed for those leaving the Center.

Provide support, consultation, and guidance to employees and supervisors on HR policy implementation, performance management issues, goal setting, coaching, evaluation, and discipline.

Provides guidance and helps develop job descriptions for vacancies and new positions.

Classifies positions within University employment groups and works with supervisors, managers, directors of implications.

Provide input and guidance the strategic hiring, promotion and succession planning for employees.

Leads and executes the Center’s Employee Learning and Development program; ensure employees attend and ensure trainings are ongoing and on topics that address the most needed employee development topics.

Ensures adequate internship, trainee and student worker pipeline as needed for various Center activities.

Serve as the search committee support staff ensuring communication between HRSS, Hiring Authority, Search Chair and Search members; ensure best practices and compliance for all searches.

Serve as a search committee member and/or chair as needed.

Manages professional staff development and retention;get to know each employee and their employment goals, as well as help connect them with upcoming openings and development trainings.

Coordinates leave processing, required training, bi-weekly and monthly hourly payroll processing.

Coordinates Health Links certification and keeps forward momentum in a healthier and safer workplace.

Maintains records.

Assists area managers with annual evaluation process and merit increases, including mid-year increases and FTE adjustments; will advise supervisors on questions regarding coaching, evaluations, promotion options.

Assists with recruitment of providers in the clinic, working with department administrators on campus for faculty appointments, credentialing and recruitment processes.

Salary and Benefits:The hiring salary for this position is commensurate with skills and experience. A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

One (1) year of professional experience in human resources or directly related role.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.Preferred Qualifications:

A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in business and/or with a Human Resources emphasis.

Three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience in HR, which included providing support, consultation, and guidance to employees and supervisors on performance management issues, goal setting, coaching, evaluation, and discipline.

Professional human resources experience within the University of Colorado system.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring diversified skills, in human resources management, and human resource strategy development.

Able to establish work priorities and provide follow through to ensure completion of activities.

Effective communication in brief, focused and well organized verbal and written format.

Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of recruitment and selection, employee relations, organizational development and human resource policy.

Knowledge of supervisory techniques, management principles, and organizational leadership.

Ability to provide guidance to others on organizational and employee relations.

Ability to maintain effective relationships with staff, faculty, university constituents, and the public by demonstrating strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

Ability to analyze, interpret and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and policies in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource functions.

Able to promote a commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout the Center and institution.

Strong written and verbal communications skills.

Strong attention to detail.

Excellent time management skills, multitasking ability and follow-through.

Works well in a team and individually.
