Part-Time Social Studies Teacher
Beginning: August 5, 2025
Hillside School seeks a dedicated and passionate part-time social studies teacher for the 2025-2026 school year. This role involves teaching social studies to small groups of students with dyslexia in a highly supportive and individualized learning environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 10:45 AM to 3:00 PM, with additional meeting time approximately twice a month, and other school activities listed below under responsibilities. This position is part of a full-day add-on program to our traditional half-day program, offering extended learning opportunities for our students.
Hillside School is a half-day program located in Boulder County that provides specialized instruction for students with dyslexia. Our small-group setting enables personalized instruction tailored to each student's learning style, level, and pace. The full-day add-on program extends the academic experience, providing students with additional opportunities for growth and enrichment in a structured setting.
Responsibilities:
Plan and teach engaging, hands-on social studies lessons that align with Hillside’s approach to multisensory and differentiated instruction.
Foster curiosity and confidence in students by creating a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual learning needs.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues to provide updates on student progress.
Attend faculty meetings, conferences, professional development sessions, and Hillside community events as required.
Supervise students during break times and assist with arrival/dismissal duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Demonstrate a passion for working with students with learning differences, particularly dyslexia.
Hold a degree in education, science, special education, or a related field and have at least three years of teaching experience in a relevant setting.
Be skilled in classroom management strategies that foster a structured, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
Effectively differentiate instruction to meet students' diverse needs, adapting lessons to various learning styles and skill levels.
Be collaborative, open to feedback, and committed to ongoing professional development.
Be comfortable integrating hands-on, inquiry-based learning into the curriculum.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary: $29,000 - $36,000 for part-time, depending on experience.
