The successful applicant will join our faculty as a Teaching Assistant Professor who teaches across our curriculum and also develops new courses. We seek an individual with a breadth of expertise in plant biology who will bring attention to plants - both in plant-biology courses and other courses that may include Ecology and General Biology. We seek an individual who sees teaching as a passion and will inspire students by creating a compassionate, inclusive learning environment. We expect candidates to have demonstrated experience in innovative, evidence-based, and student-centered teaching practices. At the same time, candidates should have sufficient research experience to be able to support students seeking in-depth scholarly experiences, to train students for careers in research and professional fields, and to communicate the significance of biology in the context of other disciplines. Candidates will actively contribute to, and provide, leadership in social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion efforts in the department. Teaching and Service (all service in the EBIO department).

Teach 3 undergraduate courses per semester (6 per academic year) in EBIO.

Contribute actively to continuous improvement of course content, delivery, and related support.

Actively foster social justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in the department.

What You Should Know

The contract will be renewable on a three-year basis. This is a non-tenure track position.

What We Can Offer

The salary range is $65,000 - $70,500 with the potential for supplemental opportunities. Moving expenses are available for qualified candidates.

PhD (awarded no later than May 2024) in a relevant field of biology that allows the individual to support the EBIO curriculum, including some focus on plant biology.

One to two years of experience working with undergraduates, including in a role of course instructor.

What You Will Need

Demonstrated organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various on-campus constituencies.

Demonstrated research expertise in EBIO as a discipline, with some focus on plant biology.

Experience successfully managing and training others, especially college-age students.

Demonstrated knowledge of, and commitment to, diversity and inclusion in undergraduate education.
