Advising faculty members on the appropriate response to funding opportunities and possible alternate sources of funding;

Reviewing and interpreting proposal guidelines and sponsor expectations;

Reviewing and analyzing proposals to ensure compliance with federal and non-federal rules and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures;

Developing proposal budgets that follow federal and non-federal rules and regulations, as well as University policies and procedures;

Providing project management for the proposal process including, but not limited to, procuring and analyzing subrecipient documentation, setting appropriate timelines for completion, ensuring budget appropriateness to the scope of work, managing relationships following appropriate procurement arrangements for anticipated services;

Addressing compliance issues (e.g. IRB, IACUC, COI) before proposal submission or under "just in time" guidelines;

Ensuring that University commitments are proper, documented, and approved;

Resolving legal, administrative, and financial issues at proposal preparation and before the receipt of an award;

Validating all proposal requirements have been met in preparation for submission by the sponsor's timeline;

Identifying problematic terms and conditions and determining the appropriate method of review;

Signing and submitting proposals, as an Authorized Organizational Representative, on behalf of the university;

Ensuring accurate and timely proposal entry into the university's electronic research administration system;

Completing complex budget revisions and negotiations, providing additional documentation and justification, and completing standard representations and certifications before an award;

Providing formal and informal training to faculty members and department administrators;

Advising University faculty and other personnel on procedures for matters including, but not limited to, allowability of costs, transfer of costs among budget categories, and procedures for effective award management.

Each Proposal Analyst (PA) is responsible for a specific set of university customers including a variety of institutes, schools, and academic departments. The PA works directly with university faculty, research administrators, and students to ensure proposals reflect sponsor and university requirements and are submitted by the proposal due date.The Proposal Analyst (PA) also collaborates with other campus departments and external sponsors to address issues and solve problems before proposal submission and during proposal review and evaluation. Additionally, the PA will develop training materials and educate campus staff about sponsored project policies, procedures, and practices. Strong teamwork skills are required to ensure cross-training and coverage within the OCG Pre-Award Team.What You Should Know

This position offers the option of either a hybrid format (virtual and in-person support) or fully remote work.

What We Can Offer

The hiring range for this position is $54,000 - $55,000 annually.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

What You Will Need

High level of accuracy with document analysis and data entry.

Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Adobe and Microsoft Office Suite applications including Excel.

Excellent organization, documentation, and communication skills.

Outstanding interpersonal communication and customer service skills.

Critical thinking skills and the ability to ask appropriate questions.

Proven track record of working independently.

Ability to manage firm timelines and competing priorities effectively.
