Barn Hand
Medicine Horse is in search of a barn hand for an equine facility in NE Boulder County/SE Longmont. We are a CO 501c3 nonprofit with a mission to provide equine facilitated therapy and learning services at no cost to in-need and underserved populations. Duties include but are not limited to:
Cleaning of the animals’ living areas: stalls, runs, paddocks, etc.
Filling waters
Cleaning water buckets, troughs, and waterers
Feeding hay, including moving hay bales and filling slow feeders and hay nets
Setting up and feeding grain and supplements
Keeping spaces tidy: Sweeping isles & barn, cleaning wash rack etc. as needed
Duties may include turn in of the horse herd
Blanketing
Grooming arenas
Assisting with projects on the farm as they are identified
Other tasks relating to animal care and property and facilities maintenance as needed
Shift and Hours:
Saturday & Sunday 11am-5pm + two other days 7am-1pm. Other days are flexible. 24 hours per week total.
Requirements:
Requires being outside in the weather for long periods of time, ability to lift a minimum of 50+ pounds regularly, a great work ethic, dependability, a high level of responsibility, and a good attitude. Candidates also should be a supporter of the Medicine Horse mission and the services we offer, as well as a diverse barn population and an environment of inclusivity that is a safe place for all.
CO driver’s license required, must be at least 18 years of age and have your own transportation.
Experience with horses required. Experience with farm equipment such as an ATV/UTV and tractor preferred.
Willing to train the right candidate.
