Doggie Daycare Specialist

Doggie Stays and Getaways in Lafayette is seeking a full time Doggie Daycare Specialist to join our team of pack leaders and assist with our training dogs! This position would "wear many hats" throughout the week, all related to the health and safety of dogs and dog behavior.

Shifts run 7:15-11:15 and 2:15- either to 5:15 or 6:15 for a total of 35-40 hours per week. You can choose which 5 days of the week work best for you (5 days must be consecutive).

Responsibilities:

-Manage the safety, wellness and appropriate social behavior of the pack

-Run meal time and administer all medications as needed

-Meet with clients throughout day for dropoff and pickup

-Facilitate healthy and successful pack integrations to ensure positive social behavior (we provide training)

-Be willing to work with 1-2 other people at times as well as solo management of the pack at times

-Kennel and facility cleaning

-Management of yard (occasional mowing, racking of leaves, shoveling snow, etc)

-Updating social media sites

-Updating calendar with new bookings and client communication via text, email and phone

-Managing dog walks, dog baths, fetch sessions

-Assist as needed various board and train dogs with such things as crate training, resource guarding, impulse control at thresholds, appropriate socializing with other dogs, loose leash walking and leash reactivity.

Job Qualifications:

Experience: The ideal candidate has a the ability to manage and lead large packs of dogs (with many different energy levels, sizes, breeds, etc.) with a calm, confident and loving demeanor. Ideal candidate has previous experience training dogs and/or working with packs of dogs. Candidate is punctual, reliable and can adjust to addressing what is needed in the moment. Candidate can make excellent judgement calls in the moment and has excellent client service skills.

Able to make at least a 6-month commitment of 5 days a week.

Can pass a background check and reference check

Comfortable working outside in all Colorado weather conditions

Can exhibit effective leadership with dogs and knows how to give a dog rules and boundaries

Has a reliable vehicle and comfortable driving in snow (dogs still need care on snow days)

Can be a team player yet also an independent leader

Can lift up to 75 pounds

Will undergo 2-4 weeks of hands on training

Starting Compensation:

$18-22/hr depending on experience. Potential opportunity to add more hours, grow into an assistant trainer position (if interested), and join our Adventure Getaway Program (where we take dogs out off leash on trails, swimming spots, hiking trails, etc.).
