Senior Backend Engineer for World Changing Startup in Boulder

Who they are
Our client is empowering users by putting functionality and decision making back on the desktop, and they're democratizing data and decision making to tens of millions of users.
These positions are for their core engineering team, responsible for building new features and maintaining all parts of the infrastructure and services. In particular, the Boulder office will be focusing on super interesting challenges around the reputation of their 11MM users.
We've got some big plans to democratize data (we're committed to never sell ours) far beyond our existing product base to make the world a better place.

About You
* You are ready to 'Level Up' personally and professionally on a daily basis. Our client takes this very seriously and points to it as a cornerstone of who they are as an organization.

* You point to your integrity as an engineer as a core component of your life.
* You have at least 5+ years of experience with a functional/scalable backend language -our focus and preference in skill set is Scala, Google Cloud Pub Sub architecture,
* You have delivered massively scaled (ideally SaaS) software into production, and ideally, it's still there running today.
* You always make good decisions about what's right for the user and for the company, even if it's a difficult decision.
* You play well in the sandbox with your fellow engineers. This is not an environment for rogues. You will be working closely with your fellow humans daily.
* You are creative, you are excited to bring new ideas to the table, you are a "First Principals Thinker"
* You are very comfortable in an Agile working environment.
Additionally, You Are
* Self-motivated to build and iterate in quick interaction cycles.
* Experienced with APIs (REST and GraphQL).
* Experienced with GCP backend ecosystems - we use a lot of Pub/Sub, Spanner, BigTable, Big Query, ElasticSearch, Kubernetes
* Experienced with large data sets and heavy web traffic environments. You're comfortable with message flow of 5k items sustained per second and petabytes of data at rest. You're skilled at making decisions in that velocity of data flow.
* Experienced in web application development, Unix/Linux environments, mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, networking, developing large software systems.
* BS degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field of study, or equivalent practical experience.
Big Bonus Points
* Machine Learning experience
* Proficiency with Spanner and deploying to multiple cloud platforms
* GraphQL API's
* Experience with Social Network reputation projects
* Experience related to eCommerce and financial services
