We are currently in search of a shop laborer/apprentice.
Primary Purpose:
Shop Laborers assist in the maintenance, repair, cleaning and inspection of equipment, vehicles and tools used in heavy/civil construction. Various hand tools are used to complete tasks along with some power tools which include saws, grinders, drills, pressure washers, and pneumatic tools. Shop laborers are responsible to perform all assigned tasks while learning new skills and enhancing their abilities.
Essential Duties:
Accurately report to supervisors or managers hours worked, productions, plan inconsistencies and completed quantities.
Maintain work area, jobsite and equipment in a neat, clean and organized manner.
Safely operate company vehicle to transport tools and materials to and from jobsites.
Wash, clean and inspect equipment and document any deficiencies and repairs.
Check fluid levels and tire pressures and replace oil, water, battery, and other fluids as needed.
Assist mechanics with repairs and maintenance tasks when necessary.
Clean shop floors, stalls, driveways, tools, and equipment as directed.
Safely operate power tools and small equipment such as saws, drills, air tools, compactors, grinders and torches to complete construction or maintenance tasks.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to communicate and take direction from supervisors regarding productions, safety, and best management practices.
General shop safety knowledge.
Valid Colorado Driver's License and insurable driving record
Working knowledge of safe small power tool and equipment practices.
1 year(s) preferred in construction rental yard or prior mechanic experience in diesel, heavy equipment, or auto.
