Values: Dependability, Collaboration, Compassion, Unity This position is assigned to the Adams County Detention Facility.This person will perform a variety of criminal justice and corrections duties related to Pretrial Release, Pretrial Supervision, Classifications, Inmate Workers, Work Release, Time Computation, and State Offenders.This is an essential position in a 24/7 environment. Employees must be able to work rotating shifts in each area which are typically 10+ hours. Examples of Duties for SuccessUnder general supervision , performs a variety of criminal justice and corrections duties related to Pretrial Release, Pretrial Supervision , Classifications, Inmate Workers, Work Release, Time Computation and State OffendersEmployee is responsible for interviewing detainees to obtain detailed information, verifying alleged offenses committed by detainees, communicating with various agencies and officials as well as family, friends, and employers of detaineesUtilize law enforcement databases; prepare a variety of related documents to include establishing and maintaining filesServes as an officer of the court in various hearings and is required to testify in courtWork involves managing and coordinating housing assignments and inmate labor jobs according to risk, for inmates confined to Detention FacilitySupervise defendants charged with felonies; misdemeanors, traffic or petty offenses that are placed in a Court Services program while in custody and when released pending court deposition

Ability to closely monitor and report the compliance or non-compliance of defendants when conducting field site checks and substance abuse testing through urinalysis

Extensive contact with Judicial and law enforcement officials, Public Defenders, Private Attorneys, Parole Officers, the general public, defendants under supervision and incarcerated individuals is required.Work requires general clerical tasks, extensive computer entry into local and state systems.

Computing release dates.

Tracking county, community, and state inmates.Collecting genetic testing bucal swab samples as mandated by state statute.Reports to the Court Services SupervisorInterview newly arrested inmate for Pre-trial Release, Supervised Release, Classifications, Inmate Worker and Work Release considerationReview, verify, and approve client/inmate to work release, inmate worker programs as well as housing assignmentsDevelop and maintain work rostersMaintain accurate records of current population and inmate statusWrite disciplinary records of current population and inmate statusPrepare, serve and complete disciplinary sanction and complete tracking logInterview incoming inmate and verify personal information for bond purposesProvide background information, criminal history, and recommendations to the court, district attorney, and defense attorney for advise concerning bondPrepare general correspondenceRecord and evaluate clients/inmates progress on court-approved programs, and prepare compliance and noncompliance reportsCompute and verify for accuracy release dates for inmate sentences from court mittimus.Data entry- input charges and sentence information into computer database.Record and prepare daily statistics for Department of Corrections Backlog, Parole Violators, Community Placement and Community Corrections, relating to inmate status.Prepare general correspondence for judicial and law enforcement review regarding inmate status.Place detainers with other facilities via teletype and fax.Verbally communicate information to various agencies to include but not limited to Judicial and Law Enforcement officials, inmates, defendants, clients and general public.Research and track the location of Adams County sentenced inmates who are in other facilities or programs.Responsible for bucal swab genetic testing from inmates in accordance with state law, to include collecting, sealing and sending to Colorado Bureau of Investigations for testing.Complete electronic mittimus acceptance and transport orders on Department of Corrections inmates.Must retain certification for CCIC/NCIC computer system to obtain criminal history and warrant informant on inmates.Arrange for Interpreters through the Justice SystemConducts bond modification interviews at the request of the courts and attorneysSchedule and conduct office visit with client on programsConduct field site check on inmate/clientProvide victim notification when client/inmate is placed on certain programsQualifications for SuccessEquivalent to a Bachelors Degree or vocational technical training with major coursework in criminal justice, criminology, corrections, social services, or related field, orTwo years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilitiesKnowledge of criminal justice and corrections duties related to Pretrial Services, Classifications, and offender sentencingBe familiar with the operation of a personal computer and software application to perform word processing, database, and spreadsheet projectsAbility to obtain and maintain a Level J certification in the NCIC/CCIC computer systemType 30 wpm accuratelyBe able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writingKnowledge of Federal, State laws and statutes applicable to various aspects of the job including corrections, criminal justice system and law enforcementApplicant must be able to efficiently multi-task, have strong organized skills, and demonstrate proficiency in time-managementExperience in interviewing techniques, procedures and ability to verify information receivedComfortable with one-on-one contact with inmates while conducting interviews, performing case management duties, and collecting genetic testing samples.More Qualifications for SuccessBenefits Guide - Active Employees 2024 - Copy.pdfAdams County complies with Colorado’s Job Application Fairness Act (“JAFA”).
