R&D Technician Location: Centennial, COJob Id: 2254 # of Openings: 1 R&D Technician (Centennial, CO) Full-Time Pay: $33.00 - $40.00 per hour Relocation Available Position Summary: The TecSol R&D Technician is responsible for Research and Development of new solutions and products. Duties include testing vendor products, developing internal ideas into workable and sellable solutions, and developing SOPs and ‘Best Practices’ documents for our technicians to follow when installing said products or solutions. Additionally, this position will be required to conduct trainings both hands on and remote for internal and external students on a wide range of technical products. Excellent programming skills with RMCs, PLCs and/or ABB TotalFlow equipment is required. The TecSol R&D Technician needs to be highly technical and extremely organized. Job Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; Technical Degree or 4-year Degree preferred.
5+ years of experience programming with RMCs, PLCs, and/or ABB TotalFlow equipment required.
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a good MVR.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with little direction from others. Must be resourceful.
Demonstrated experience in the practical application of the solutions involved, including oil fields and other industrial environments is necessary.
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting capabilities with the ability to identify and solve challenging problems with practical, strait forward, and cost effective solutions.
Must be able to read a P&ID, One Line Diagram, and C&E proficiently to determine the scope of work locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
Must understand electricity from 12 VDC to 480 VAC.
Proficient in the use of electrical tools including ohm meters, multi-meters, as well as terminating devices and other common hand and power tools.
Must have high mechanical and electrical knowledge of components relative to industrial process automation.
Must be able to identify different types, gauges, and color of cables and wires.
Ability to evaluate new products and verify their usage in the field will be reliable and effective.
Must have excellent customer service skills.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate effectively with company, customer, and vendor personnel in order to understand, evaluate, and disseminate technical details through the proper channels to reach a solution to often difficult technical problems.
Effectively manage ongoing testing of multiple products simultaneously; producing quality documentation that clearly communicates testing results.
Take a qualified idea for a technical solution from paper to a tested, sellable product assembly with minimal guidance. Producing quality documentation communicating the product’s value in order for Marketing and Sales staff to create effective marketing material.
Teach highly technical classes effectively.
Testing and Training will take place throughout the US. Some travel is required.
Terminate wires and cable to electrical/electronic equipment.
Test electrical components for continuity and proper voltage readings according to specifications.
Inspect electrical equipment and components to identify hazards and to ensure the equipment is in good operational condition.
Illustrate knowledge and experience of working with a lock out tag out system.
Continuously keep up with changes in technologies and optimal work processes for industrial facilities.
