The Assistant Teaching Professor will teach 4 courses per semester (fall and spring, with potential for 1-2 courses in the summer). Two of these courses will be leading/teaching the internship program (placing students at local agencies, coordinating background checks, teaching the internship course, and evaluating their performance); thus, experience working in or with criminal justice agencies and/or supporting student/employee training is required. Other course assignments may include but are not limited to: Introduction to Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Contemporary Issues in Social and Public Policy, Violence in Society, and/or specialized courses within the forensic, law enforcement, or cybercrime focus area. Teaching requirements (80% effort) will include on campus, hybrid, and online courses within the undergraduate criminal justice program and potential to teach in the graduate criminal justice program (depending on experience and education), and the dual degree programs (with sociology, psychology, and public administration) offered within the department of criminal justice. The Assistant Teaching Professor will be expected to prepare and teach courses that contribute to the core and elective curriculum. Additionally, they may be asked to mentor students, facilitate independent studies, mentor students on thesis/capstones, and contribute to the curriculum development within the department.The Assistant Teaching Professor is also expected to be an engaged faculty member contributing (20% effort) to the essential duties of the department (e.g., participating in faculty meetings, serving on department, College, and campus committees, advising student clubs, engaging with the community, and other essential need of the department and college).The Assistant Teaching Professor is an instructional faculty position not eligible for tenure. The Assistant Teaching Professor will be expected to contribute to a climate of support for students.

Work Location: Hybrid (50% remote, 50% on-site)This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).What We Offer:Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
