Job SummaryAre you passionate about supporting adolescent youth and their families? Are you passionate about placement stability for youth? Do you have skills in de-escalation, teaching, providing support? Are you a critical thinker? Then the Crisis Response and Stabilization Team is the impactful team for you. As an In-Home Professional on the Crisis Response and Stabilization Team you will play an integral role in helping prevent placement disruption while providing support to adolescent youth and their families/placements. In this position you will be responsible for providing in-home and community support to adolescent youth, their families and placement providers that are in crisis and require immediate intervention. You will provide short-term intense support to help youth and families learn necessary skills in de-escalation, coping, communication, and trauma response. Hiring Range: $54,730.20 - $61,637.99 annually(commensurate with qualifications)This is a child protection position. Child protection includes engaging families. Please prepare to anticipate the need for flexibility in work hours periodically to accommodate client schedules. Families have crisis needs during the after-school hours, evenings and sometimes on weekends. The average workday hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am -5:00pm, but evening/weekend availability is required as well as participation in an on-call rotation. Schedule subject to change. Under FLSA guidelines, this position is exempt. Works to preserve and/or rehabilitate families while protecting children's physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Provides intensive in-home child protection services to families with children as a result of an abuse and/or neglect complaint with the primary concern of substance abuse. Coordinates with the Practice Unit and is responsible for primary decision-making of child protection practices as needed. Essential Duties/Responsibilities

Provides in-home instruction to families, strengthening parental competency by promoting family independence by teaching family skill practice to include problem-solving, anger management, conflict resolution, household management, home cleaning, and by explaining how to access community resources and support systems.

Addresses and teaches clients how to meet and sustain basic needs as well as clients' health and wellbeing, including the impact on the child’s health and wellbeing.

Provides crisis management for clients to resolve problems and conflicts.

Assists clients with milestones and other assigned homework for specialty courts.

In collaboration with the case team, assists in the development of support/healthy living plans.

Coordinates community resources for clients, including rehabilitation services, as needed.

Monitors, tracks, and reports compliance with court orders concerning areas such as individual/family therapy, medication management, and substance abuse treatment in collaboration with assigned caseworker.

Coordinates, prepares, and participates in Treatment Support Meetings (TSM) and Family Engagement Meetings (FEM).

Attends and testifies in court hearings; participates in pre-court staffings.

Documents all contacts and ensures that all paperwork and documentation are accurately completed and filed; completes necessary case information reports and inputs updates into database.

Arranges and provides transportation for clients to appointments, therapy, school, court hearings, pre-placement visits, etc.

Performs child welfare duties and provides support to Practice and Support and Services teams within the Children, Youth, & Family Services (CYFS) Division as needed.

Performs other duties as required.

Supervision Exercised:This classification does not have supervisory authority; however, may be required to provide expertise or limited guidance or direction to employees, such as overseeing work quality, training, and guidance. Typically serves as a subject matter expert on the scope of functional area.Supervision Received:Receives general supervision. This classification typically performs job duties by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies. Regular direction, guidance, and coaching from supervisor may be expected. There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties. Performance reviewed periodically.QualificationsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of casework practices, procedures, and guidelines.

Ability to assess situations and make prudent and appropriate decisions; ability to apply conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.

Ability to efficiently plan, schedule, and organize.

Ability to accurately and efficiently complete paperwork, reports, and documentation.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with co-workers, clients, other agencies, community professionals, the courts, and the public. Ability to provide excellent customer service.

Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Ability to use standard office equipment, including computer, fax machine, copier, and telephone.

Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Required Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree or higher from a higher education institution with course work related to the job responsibilities of child welfare social caseworker as stated in Volume 7. Course work examples can include and are not limited to, the development of human behavior, child development, family intervention techniques, diagnostic measures, or therapeutic techniques.

One year of professional, internship, or volunteer work experience in a human services related agency.

Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree of Social Work (BSW) or Master's Degree of Social Work (MSW) internship in a human services-related agency may substitute for the required experience.

Licenses/Certificates

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance as stated within El Paso County’s Personnel Policies Manual.

Must obtain and maintain necessary certifications as applicable to position.

Colorado State Child Welfare Caseworker Certification or the ability to successfully complete and pass initial examination within ninety days of employment.

Pre-Employment Requirements

Must pass conditional post offer background investigation, including fingerprinting, motor vehicle record check, drug screen, and physical examination. College transcripts required prior to the date of hire.

Work ConditionsDuties are performed in an office environment, client's homes, schools, jails, and court; must be able to climb stairs in or outside of these environments and able to walk up and down driveways and sidewalks. Hybrid remote work environment dependent upon Department discretion and business needs. May be exposed to hostile family situations/ individuals, and unsanitary and hazardous conditions. Reliable transportation is required as you will be utilizing your own registered and insured personal vehicle to transport clients as needed; mileage reimbursement is available upon request. Weekend and evening hours will be required. This position may require a 24/7 on-call and after-hours rotational schedule. Local and non-local travel, including possible out of state travel, may be required.
