Reports to Lead Cook, Sous Chef, Chef, Lead Server, Manager, Owner

Job purpose

To consistently make good, fresh food for our guests while maintaining a good attitude under pressure and working well with others.

Duties and responsibilities

The Cooks duties are as follows

Learn current recipes and procedures, including names of items on menu and how they are plated and prepared per station.

Check your scheduled station, prep items for shift, check and replace old items, prep ahead for next shift.

Keep station clean at all times, clean while you work. Stay organized and put things back where they belong.

Work efficiently combining steps and even working on multiple items at once to increase productivity.

Handle special requests from servers and guests with enthusiasm, go out of your way to please the customers.

Serve exceptional food ALL THE TIME! Every dish counts. Don't ever skip steps, if it's not right redo it.

Be reliable, show up on time, give notice and/or try and find replacement when you are sick or cannot come to work.

Come to work clean and professional. Clothes must be clean and free from holes or tears. Employee must be showered and well groomed, hair put up, beard trimmed Shoes must be non-slip and closed toe, and in good shape.

Must be flexible with schedule and available to work weekends, holidays, and lunches depending on what the customers and business needs.

Limit cell phone use to breaks or emergencies. Cell phones are a distraction and are not to be used while on your shift.

Know, understand and follow all the guidelines and rules set forth by local Health Department. Talk with Supervisor if you have any questions.

Report any issues with food quality, food stocking, health standards, or employee behaviors to the Supervisor immediately.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

Able to work in the United States

Ability to read and write English

Ability to communicate in English with other Cooks

Recommended previous Culinary experience

Outgoing personality, able to work with a team

Multitasked and organized

Good attitude, respectful to others

Working conditions

A cook must be able to work in hot conditions, over ovens and stoves for long periods of time. They must be aware of hot pans or other cooking utensils. They are expected to work with sharp knives and machinery. The floors in a kitchen can be slippery or have other trip hazards that they must watch out for. A kitchen environment can be stressful and hectic.

Physical requirements

This is a physically demanding job. Cooks must be able to spend 8-10 hours on their feet per day. Breaks will be given according to local laws, but may be taken early in the shift so the employee can work through the rush. Employees must be able to lift 50 lbs from the ground regularly. Some work may require pushing 100lbs or more.
