We are seeking a Construction Site Site Safety & Health Officer for federal construction projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct all job site activities to maintain compliance with contract specifications, client requirements, and local, state and federal building codes.
Coordinate material deliveries and subcontract work in accordance with project schedule.
Supervise project employees and subcontractors to ensure quality and timeliness of construction.
Inspect work in progress to ensure client satisfaction with finished project.
Maintain regular communication with the Project Manager regarding the status of job.
Complete and submit project reports as required.
Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe activities through safety management and contacting supervisory personnel.
Supervise and administer safety/first aid activities including work assignments, personnel administration, staffing and training.
Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage and personal injury investigations.
Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification:
Associate Degree in related field.
5 to 10 years' construction safety experience.
Certification in CPR and First Aid preferred.
OSHA 510 and/or 500 a plus.
OSHA 30 hours.
Must Possess a valid state driver's license.
Bi-lingual preferred.
Ability to read, analyze and interpret contract documents, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of clients, subcontractors, or employees of the organization.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables.
Excellent analytical, problem solving skills.
Able to crawl, climb over obstacles, walk on uneven surfaces, and able to climb ladders without assistance.
Able to enter confined spaces or work on high-elevation task locations.
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 10 years of prior experience in construction site supervision; experience on federal government projects preferred.
EM 385-1-1, USACE Safety Certificate.
OSHA 30 Hour Construction training certification (within the last three years, if possible).
First Aid/CPR training (current).
Strong leadership and communication skills (verbal and written).
Computer skills including MS Office applications.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to prioritize workload and multi-task with ease.
