Qualifications:

o Plan and implement a structured afterschool program that provides engaging activities, including arts and crafts, and social development.
o Ensure the safety and supervision of children during aftercare hours, managing behavior and promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
o Coordinate with parents to understand the needs and preferences for their children’s afterschool care.
o Monitor attendance and ensure accurate record-keeping for all afterschool participants.
o Create and maintain an organized, welcoming environment for both students and staff.
o Communicate regularly with parents regarding their child’s participation and any behavioral concerns.
o Ensure the program complies with all licensing requirements, safety guidelines, and school policies.
o Coordinate with teachers and administration to align the afterschool program with the school’s overall goals and policies.
o Handle emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner, adhering to school safety protocols.
1. Supporting Classroom Instruction:
o Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lesson plans that promote children’s growth in cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
o Engage with children in both large and small group settings during activities such as Storytime, arts and crafts, music, and play.
o Assist with transitions between activities, helping children move smoothly between structured and unstructured time.
2. Classroom Setup & Maintenance:
o Set up classroom materials and activities as directed by the lead teacher.
o Help maintain a clean, organized, and child-friendly environment by cleaning up toys, materials, and surfaces throughout the day.
o Ensure that toys and materials are sanitized and meet safety standards.
3. Supervision and Safety:
o Closely supervise children during free play, outdoor play, and mealtimes to ensure safety.
o Monitor children during naptime and assist with settling them down.
o Always ensure children’s physical and emotional safety, taking steps to prevent accidents and injuries.
4. Behavior Management:
o Support the lead teacher in managing classroom behavior and enforcing positive discipline techniques.
o Encourage cooperative play and assist children in resolving conflicts using age-appropriate communication strategies.
o Model appropriate behavior and social skills for children.
5. Communication:
o Build strong, supportive relationships with children by engaging with them in activities and conversations.
o Communicate any observations or concerns about a child’s development or behavior to the lead teacher.
o Assist with writing daily reports or logging key events to share with parents (as required by the preschool program).
6. Personal Care:
o Assist children with self-care routines such as handwashing, dressing, using the restroom, and eating.
o Maintain hygiene protocols, including wiping noses, washing hands, and encouraging good health practices.
7. Supporting Individualized Needs:
o Provide individualized support for children who may need extra help, such as children with special needs, children struggling with social interactions, or those with language barriers.
o Adapt activities to meet the diverse needs of children in the classroom, following guidance from the lead teacher.
8. Assisting with Snack and Mealtimes:
o Assist in preparing and serving meals and snacks, ensuring all dietary restrictions are followed.
o Clean up after meals and ensure food safety practices are in place.
9. Participation in Classroom Planning and Reflection:
o Collaborate with the lead teacher during planning meetings to reflect on children’s development and adjust the curriculum accordingly.
o Attend staff meetings and participate in program events, as needed.
10. Documentation:
o Assist the lead teacher in documenting children’s progress through observations, anecdotal records, or photography .
o Help maintain accurate attendance records and any other necessary documentation for licensing or accreditation purposes.
11. Professional Development:
o Attend professional development workshops, trainings, and in-service days as required.
o Stay informed on best practices in early childhood education and integrate new techniques into daily routines as needed.
