Our environmental engineering and consulting firm is looking for an entry to mid-level Geotechnical Engineer or a Soil Field Testing Technician for our Denver office. The successful candidate will perform Construction Quality Control activities for earthworks at various sites for purpose of verifying soil and plastic membrane properties and verifying that the construction of these components meets the project specifications. It is helpful if the candidate is familiar with ASTM procedures. Ability to follow proper procedures, perform accurate computations, and document all activities is required. The Candidate must be able to work independently. Job duties include inspection, analysis and observation of work by contractors/subcontractors assigned to the on-site construction. Additional duties include general construction oversight, maintenance, reviewing plans and verifying activities, as well as maintaining daily reports and preparing construction certification reports. Other duties may include subsurface investigation and characterization, monitoring, and reporting. Office duties may include report preparation, engineering analysis, plan and specification preparation and other activities. The position will require working out of town from time to time and some projects could require relatively long hours in the field. Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel required. The successful candidate will be well-organized and comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Nuclear density gauge certification is helpful and experience with construction materials testing is a plus. NICET II Certification is helpful but not required. The candidate must have a valid driver's license and clear driving record. This position may either be a contract-to-hire position to begin with or, depending on experience, a full-time position.
