General Description of the Engagement
The City & County of Denver is looking for a Cisco network engineer at the level of CCNA/CCNP route/switch to augment current staff through 2023. This engineer will be part of designing horizontal cabling, deploying network infrastructure to new construction and remodeled spaces, as well as upgrading connectivity to sites throughout the City & County of Denver. The engineer will be responsible for working independently, providing design and build for both new and existing buildings. Candidate will work with both internal agencies and external contractors to assess sites, provide our standards and technical specifications, order and organize equipment, tools and supplies as needed for each project.
This assignment may require some after hours and early morning work outside of regular business hours. The engineer will also need transportation as travel will be required throughout the City and County of Denver (this includes mountain parks and other locations outside of the City limits). Standard configurations, procedures, and change management must be closely followed. The City & County of Denver is a service provider to over 50 city agencies in more than 200 locations, utilizing a complex internal MPLS network with numerous VRF's with strict standards for both cabling infrastructure and network equipment and configuration.
Engagement Start Date & Duration, Weekly Hours
The start date is estimated for January 2023. The engagement will be 40 hours per week, reporting to the Service Delivery team. The duration of the engagement is expected to be approximately 12 Months.

Qualifications
Configure Cisco Switches
Background in running, pulling, terminating, and splicing both fiber and a variety of Ethernet and twisted pair cables connections
Experience writing and maintaining technical documentation
Knowledge of AV products a plus (Teams, Poly Video Conferencing, Digital Signage)
Knowledge of Cisco Wireless products a plus
Necessary to interact effectively with project managers, developers, and business analysts
Able to effectively communicate and display a professional, mature attitude when working with internal customers, management and personnel across the organization
Perform as a key liaison between TS, and any vendor staff needed throughout the process.
Partner with the project team, TS, and any vendors to understand known and needed (as is/to be) processes, infrastructure, system, and integration requirements
Create functional analysis documentation which identifies and recommends resolution of any technology/application/network/security gaps.
Prepare final documentation for review and approval with stakeholders, ensuring appropriate detail available to drive confidence with and approval of design solutions
