Head Start Health Specialist – Region VIII - RemoteHome Based in Region VIII ( CO, MT, ND, SD, UT, WY ) - must reside in one of these StatesICF seeks a Health Specialist to work as a liaison between the Regional and Central Office of Head Start (OHS) and the National Center on Health and Wellness, as well as other agencies relevant to the work of the Regional Office. The Health Specialist will serve as a resource to other Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Specialists on comprehensive health services, including mental health and environmental health and safety, in accordance with the requirements of the Head Start Program Performance Standards across the birth to five spectrums.This position is home-based in one of the Region VI states and will involve extensive travel to programs within the 5 states identified as the Federal Region VIII ( Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota Utah, Wyoming ).Key Responsibilities:

Serve as a resource to other TTA specialists on comprehensive health services, including mental health and environmental health and safety, in accordance with the requirements of the Head Start Program Performance Standards across the birth to five spectrum;

Serve as a resource to other TTA specialists on strategies for engaging families around issues on health.

Participate in case conferences about individual grantees, at the request of the Regional Office.

Serve as a point of dissemination to program and TTA specialists about health data specific to grantees.

Aggregate and analyze state and regional health data from a variety of sources to identify emerging trends and patterns impacting Head Start and Early Head Start grantees.

Provide training on topics related to health and mental health to regional office staff, grantees and state partners, at the direction of the Regional Office.

Provide direct TTA to grantees, as directed by the Regional Office.

Incorporate other tasks specific to health reflective of evolving national priorities as presented by the Office of Head Start, National Centers, Regional Office, and/or aggregate regional assessment data.

Basic Qualifications:

A minimum of a BA or a BS, from an accredited university or college in public health, mental health, health education, maternal and child health, or health administration. If the highest degree was awarded more than ten years ago, the resume should be specific regarding such events as courses, conferences, seminars attended that ensure the specialist remains current in their field.

5 years’ experience related to health services in a Head Start/Early Head Start program specific to the development and implementation of comprehensive health services, including the integration of health services to other HS service areas.

Ability to analyze health related data and assist grantees to make data informed driven decisions in order to improve the effectiveness and quality of program operations.

Demonstrated experience with the provision of ongoing consultation or technical assistance related to health services for children birth to five years old.

Ability to help grantees prioritize health goals and objectives, including those related to a grantee’s school readiness goals.

Experience addressing the health needs of children from diverse backgrounds such as children with special health care needs, children with disabilities, children who are dual language learners, children in family childcare settings, and/or children who are homeless.

Experience facilitating forums and meetings of diverse stakeholder groups.

Ability to organize and present information to diverse groups of stakeholders.

Must have valid driver's license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.

Knowledge of Head Start performance standards and all applicable federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Master’s Degree in public health, mental health, and maternal and child health.

Experience with disability services, dental services or services to pregnant women in Head Start/Early Head Start.

Required Professional Skills:

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.

Team player with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work with all levels of internal staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.

Ability to work in environment that uses virtual tools and methodologies to deliver services
