We believe that empowering our people and helping them reach their full potential is essential for the long-term success of both Lumen and our customers.Program dates: May 30 – August 8, 2025.The Main ResponsibilitiesLumen’s Enterprise Operations organization is looking for a DevOps Engineer Intern on our Network Transformation team. The intern will be responsible for automation of manual tasks as well as software development. You will need a high level of engagement and ability to take initiative, ask questions, learn quickly, and work in a team environment. Other tasks may include:Other responsibilities of intern will include: Collaborate with senior developers on designing, developing, and testing tools for supporting the network automation infrastructure and applications. Effectively manage and deliver multiple projects to operational stability. Communicate with all stakeholders throughout a project to gain clarification of requirements, provide project status, identify gaps, identify issues, discuss schedules. Support existing applications and procedures. Write documentation to support applications and processes. Implement assigned projects via continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Agile methodology. Install, configure, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot third party software along with custom internal applications. No exceptions will be made. Required qualificationso Enrolled at a 4-year accredited college or university, rising senior or masters level education status at the start of the internshipo Graduating August 2025 – May 2026o Preferred fields include but not limited to: CIS, Data Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related IT field.o Intern must be able to work 40 hours per week during the 10-week program (May 30 – August 8, 2025) Proficiency and understanding of:o Microsoft Suiteso Hands-on development experience with backend languages like Java and/or Python and databases such as SQL/MongoDB/Oracle. Experience with NodeJS is desirable.o Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML/CSS, Django, and JavaScript. (React/jQuery/Angular are desirable.)o Familiarity working in Linux environments, including file structures, grep, and basic shell scripting.o Experience working in Windows and Unix environments, including file structures, grep, and basic shell scripting.o Knowledgeable about containerization technologies like Docker/Kubernetes is desirable.o Understanding of XML, JSON, and data structure fundamentals.o Familiarity with Agile methodology of development and user of Git (or similar) for version control is pluso Strong understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, routing, and connectivity troubleshooting.o Knowledge of L2/L3 networking protocols such as MPLS, BGP, 802.1q, and TCP/IP is a plus .o Networking is a pluso Yamlo Ansibleo Continuous improvement mindset and the ability to analyze business processes to identify process improvements and optimization.o Microsoft Azure exposure is a plus Preferred qualificationso Strong drive for results/solutions and taking initiative to resolve problemso Strong Tech background and desire to learn more in the tech realmo Ability to be resourceful and adaptable- independently and in a team environmento Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisionso Strong written and verbal communication skillso Flexible and adapts well to changeo Continuous improvement mindset and the ability to analyze business processes to identify process improvements and optimizationCompensationInternship compensation ranges depend on each individual’s level of education, geographic location, and experience/qualifications aligned to the role.Hourly Based Pay Range:Min: $26.00/hourMax: $43.00/hourWhat to Expect NextAfter completion and submission of your application, you will be asked to participate in a virtual video interview.
