Position Summary:The Philanthropic Analytics Developer at the University of Colorado Office of Advancement reports to the Assistant Director of Advancement Technical Architecture and is responsible for providing superb customer service and application support to internal partners, campus partners, and the President’s office for business intelligence, reporting, and data analysis needs. The Analytics Developer will turn data into critical information and knowledge that can be used to advise sound business decisions.This position reports to the Assistant Director of Advancement Technical Architecture and is exempt from the State of Colorado Classified staff system.Where You Will Work:The CU System Office of Advancement follows a “flexibility first” approach to work that defines how we manage and make use of in-person time. As a fully remote position, this role will work remotely with the exception of four separate callback weeks per year— when all our colleagues are expected to be together in the office. During callback weeks, this role is expected to work from the CU System office at 1800 Grant St. in Denver, Colorado. Any additional in-office time will be determined by this roles direct manager. Description of JobDuties and Responsibilities: Philanthropic Segmentation Support

Understanding philanthropic giving data and data structure within the CU Ascend CRM or similar CRM

Designs, develops, implements, and maintains campus partner and vendor related data integrations for Campus Annual Giving and Grateful Patient program efforts with vendors such as Ruffalo, Noel, Lovitz (RNL) and others as identified and advised by the campus philanthropic teams based on their needs

Implements standard processes for philanthropic related reporting and segmentation efforts

Performs philanthropic data segmentation pulls and related ad-hoc data pulls

Assists in extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data into usable data format for reporting

Builds and maintains data marts or other reporting structures within the Oracle Operational Data Store (ODS) to be used for reporting and segmentation efforts

Translates business requirements into specifications used to drive a data mart/data model design and configuration

Makes responsible recommendations regarding reporting and information system issues and exercises judgement and discretion in resolving work requests of varying complexity

Analytic Application Support

Develops and maintains documentation of standard and customized data structure and application administration needs

Researches, implements, and develops future state tools and software useful for additional reporting and segmentation capabilities

Collaborates with BI Analysts in developing and detailing specifications for data structure improvements and modifications

Assists with environment upgrades and migrations as needed

Actively participates as a member of the team in project initiatives and decision-making opportunities

Project Management

Conducts technical feasibility for projects, working multi-functionally as needed

Works with Central Advancement leadership and partners to manage and complete projects for the Advancement Data Council and Advancement System Work Plans

Crafts and maintains project management documentation, including standard project summaries and goal timelines

Assists enterprise data readiness by crafting, developing, and deploying solutions within the various data platforms

Collaborates with Central Advancement teams on initiatives related to enterprise reporting, sophisticated analysis, and ad hoc reporting

Uses Agile project management methodologies to help ensure timely, quality results

Partner Success

Engages with campus, foundation, and central partners and builds collaborative working relationships

Consults with clients to determine specifications for data requests, project design, and data application needs

Works closely with clients to build, test, craft, and implement data structure and connection solutions including sophisticated table creation and automated extraction processes

Collaborates with clients to translate data needs into actionable objectives and outcomes

Provides technical assistance and cross training of end users and technical support staff in use of internal and external data technologies

Professional Development & Training

Engages in technical training and professional development opportunities to maintain innovative industry skills and deepen business knowledge

Participates in presentations, trainings, and workshop sessions related to platform/application navigation and configuration

Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal RightsMinimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education, or equivalent professional experience (the educational requirement may be substituted with professional experience on a year-for-year basis)

Three (3) years’ experience PL/SQL developer in an Oracle or similar coding environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Decision Sciences, Statistics, Information Systems, or other related field of study. (professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis)

Five (5) years’ experience as detailed above

Three (3) years’ experience utilizing Analytic Applications to develop, maintain, and update business intelligence reports

Experience in the following:

Working in a higher-education, healthcare, non-profit, and/or advancement setting

Customer relationship management (CRM) software, particularly Salesforce or other higher education constituent database software

Development programming languages (such as Java, JavaScript, Python, Salesforce Apex etc.)

Relational databases in an Oracle client/server environment

SQL and writing queries against complex database structures

Logical and physical data modeling concepts

Cognos or other common standard BI tools

Annual Giving fundraising

Data segmentation and identifying data trends

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge of business intelligence principles and standard processes, including data management and reporting processes

Knowledge of logical and physical data modeling concepts

Knowledge of Web Development programming languages (such as Java, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, aspx, etc.)

Interpersonal skills, including the ability to facilitate interaction, communication, and teamwork between others

Oral, written, and listening communication skills to accurately interpret what others are saying and convey messages, information, concepts, and details clearly

Analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills to analyze data and trends in order to produce results

Ability to use or demonstrated skills to learning the following:

Microsoft Office Suite

SQL/SOQL Query Tools

Salesforce ascend applications, or similar

Salesforce reports and dashboards

Cognos, Tableau, or similar BI tools

ETL and other integration tools such as Talend, Jitterbit, or others

Familiarity with the practice of Advancement or Philanthropic Giving related programs

Ability to work independently and multi-functionally to meet personal and team goals

Ability to provide technical assistance to key partners to articulate technical information to non-technical users in accessible terms

Ability to discern requirements and perform detailed analysis to determine appropriate design.

Ability to maintain confidentiality of information

Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, follow-up with partners, meet goals, and bring projects to completion

Ability to quickly learn new technologies and their application environment

Ability to use structured query language (SQL) to write queries against sophisticated database structures
