HDR Engineering is looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer/Inspector to join

our National Infrastructure Inspection Team. The Senior Bridge

Engineer/Inspector will be expected to perform local and national bridge,

tunnel, and structural inspections and requires familiarity with a broad

spectrum of bridge inspection equipment, methods, and processes. The

candidate will conduct National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS)

inspections, write field inspection reports, and perform basic

mathematical calculations. Field inspections will be performed from ground

level, hydraulic equipment, ladder access, or using rope access

techniques. As an inspection team leader, the candidate will provide

supervision of the inspection team and provide support to the Project Managers

in planning inspection activities. Occasional office engineering (design,

CADD, analysis, etc) may be required.Responsibilities

Lead bridge inspection teams, develop inspection reports, and perform

structural load calculations.

Manage projects and support marketing efforts for proposals.

Must be willing to work with other disciplines (bridge design, roadway

design, hydraulic analysis, stream restoration, planning, traffic

control) within the office, as necessary, during inspection downtime.

Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel for

multiple night stays during the week.

Willingness to travel within the Unites States to inspection sites.

This position requires physical ability to perform field inspections of

in-service bridge and culvert structures, tunnel structures, highway

structures, overhead sign structures, hydraulic structures, and metal

traffic signal poles. Physical demands include positioning extension

ladders, maneuvering small boats, driving long distances, confined

space, air travel, occasionally working at night, and walking long

distances on uneven surfaces.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrated leadership

skills, communication skills, and ability to work with various

multi-disciplinary teams

Candidate should expect exposure to environmental hazards, such as, but

not limited to, warm and cold temperatures, water, work-at-height,

confined spaces, poisonous plants, snakes, ticks, spiders, and other

creatures.

An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our

Qualifications

Qualifications

BS in Civil Engineering required.

MS in Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.

Registered Professional Engineer required.

Minimum of 9 years' bridge/structural inspection and design experience

required.

NHI 130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges Training required.

NHI 130053 Bridge Inspector Refresher Training required.

NHI 130078 Inspection of Fracture Critical Steel Bridges Training required.

NHI 130110 Tunnel Safety Inspection Training preferred.

Current Society of Professional Rope Access Technicians (SPRAT)

Certification as a Level II or III with a min mum of 500 hours as a rope

access team member preferred.

American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Certification as a

Level II or III preferred.

American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.

Mobile Elevating Working Platform (MEWP) Operator Certification for

scissor lifts, manlifts, and under bridge inspection vehicles (UBIV) required.

UAS Pilot (FAA Part 107 certification) with structural inspection

experience preferred.

Experience in asset management data software (AASHTOWare BrM, AssetWise,

inspectX, etc.) required.

Experience in load rating software (AASHTOWare BrR, BRASS, CANDE,

etc.) required.
