I am a quadriplegic seeking three caregivers to fill positions for help with personal care in my home. Tasks include range of motion, hygiene, catheter care, transfer/positioning, exercise, and minor housekeeping. Training is provided. Experience with home care and/or quadriplegics is preferred, but not necessarily required.
I provide part-time positions for my caregiving staff. I generally seek to split my weekly care (35 hours) between 3 or 4 caregivers. Right now I am hiring for two positions with the following shifts:
Position 1 – Weekday Mornings
Monday-Friday mornings: 6:30-8 AM
Position 2 – Weekend Evenings
Fri/Sat evenings: 9-10 PM
Sunday evenings: 7:30-10:30 PM
Monday evenings: 7:30-10 PM
Position 3 – Weekday Evenings
Tues/Thurs evenings: 7:30-10:30 PM
Wednesday evenings: 7-10 PM
I prefer to find caregivers that have potential flexibility to fill in for other shifts during the week on the rare occasions where that's needed. Note that for these relatively short shifts of 2-3 hours, this tends to work better for someone within 20-25 minutes' drive of my home (roughly Orchard and University).
Desired qualities:
Some strength for slide board transfers (no lifting needed) and repositioning
Reliability is an absolute must-have
An ability to fill-in on occasion for other shifts through the week
My spinal cord injury is C4/5 level, so I have some arm mobility but no finger function. I can brush teeth, use a fork, and use a computer. Due to my lack of strength, I need help with transferring, positioning, and the other tasks mentioned above.
This is a great opportunity for:
-Students in medicine (nursing school, etc.) seeking hands-on experience.
-Current employees in medical fields looking for consistent, part-time work outside of regular business hours.
-Anyone with prior medical experience who left the workforce, but would appreciate something part-time.
I would love to find someone who wants this as a long-term position.
Job perks!
-Consistent schedule, part-time hours, focused attention on one client
-Signing bonus (paid after 90 days of employment) and biannual bonuses
The position starts at $20/hour, with a small pay bump after completing training. After 90 days of employment, the pay rate bumps to $22/hour for weekday shifts and $25/hour for weekend shifts. Those with a CNA certification (or higher) may qualify for higher pay. Please ask to find out more!
If you’re interested, please send me your resume and any questions. We can clear up any of our questions by email, and then set up an interview if it seems like a good fit. I look forward to hearing from you!
