But we have a problem and maybe you have a problem and maybe we’re the solution to each other’s problems. (Sometimes you just get lucky and it’s happened before.)

This could be two jobs…but for the last 8 years it’s been done well by one person.
It’s not an executive or management type job.
It’s a hectic fast paced do-everything-all-the-time job.
Radon experience not required (but would be nice:)

This "One-Do-It-All" job is how it currently operates - the current person used to do half the job but eventually took over the whole thing (2x+ responsibility, 2x+ pay) Great to promote from within.
For a while this was life-changing money and an incredible opportunity for this person. But it is possible to burn out at this pace especially after 8 years and some life circumstance changes. But there are harder jobs than this…for less pay….there is downtime.
It’s an epic opportunity for the right person in the right situation.
All we ask for is the best effort from an outstanding candidate for 40 hours per week. It’s worked great for 8 years like this.
But it is a lot for one person. Especially for one person with no radon experience.
You Need to be Amazing at Answering all Calls (We lose 10%, 5 jobs per week, if not answered)
This is “Customer Service” type inbound call sales. There is no “closing,” no asking for the order, no overcoming objections & no quotas. The service sells itself
And you tell them to call back if they have questions or want to schedule after they receive their proposal via email.
But you need to be the friendliest (smile in your voice) and (eventually) most knowledgeable person they talk to
You probably handle 10 of these calls per day, some as little as 2-3 mins as much as 10+ mins each.
Answer or deal with VM for maybe 50 calls on a Monday. Slows as week goes on. Friday maybe 20 calls or voicemails.
On Proposal calls: Ask a few questions from a list on a predetermined template. You need to sound like you care and like you're an expert when you're going through these questions.
Use Radon Knowledge ( training provided) to fit them into one of 5 different categories
Use custom software to SEND PROPOSALS, finess the pricing, check with owner if necessary
Receive scheduling requests, fit jobs into installer schedules
-It’s a little bit gritty. You apologize for things that aren’t really your fault. The office isn’t fancy and could stand a remodel. It can be lonelyit’s not a full office with pleasant water cooler chatting. If you are qualified for a more glamorous job You're probably not going to love this one.
Deal with calls from Angry customers - they’re a bit more “particular” these days. Let them say their peace and then ask “What can I do to help?” It can get frustrating
You probably need to be a little bit of an extrovert. You need to want to be on the phone.
Speed matters. Some people are just trying to get this off their to do list and if you're not fast then some will have already have booked with a different by the time you get back to them

The person currently doing the job has let us know that they are actively looking for a new job. And now is officially moving on. They have been with us for 8 years. They started in the smaller role and took over both jobs when one vacated. At the time it was life-changing money - an incredible opportunity. (You should see the thank you cards we’ve gotten over the years:) But things change over time and they’ve made it clear their life circumstances have changed and they’re burnt out (esp on the customer contact end of it) after all of this time. We really need someone with some enthusiasm for eagerly answering the phone (as that is the primary job function.)

Are there parts of this job that suck?
Undoubtably. We’ll do our best to talk all that through with you. It is an incredible opportunity for the right person. I think there are people working for similar companies all over town that get paid less money to deal with more difficult bossesbut of course I'm probably biased. One thing is for sure we will throw our cards on the table and give you an honest picture of everything involved

This is a tiny company with very fluid job descriptions this is part of a potential restructuring
Hopefully we fill this exact job but there is a chance we could split it back into two jobs.
This is a good faith honest and accurate estimate of what the possible job will look like
Benefits:
It depends on your needs. Previous people had insurance through their spouse. If you need insurance we can figure it out but it will probably need to come out of your total compensation package. Includes some paid time off. Probably 2-3 weeks total unpaid time off.
Advancement:
This is a job more than a career. There is no path to becoming a CEO. But you might learn a lot about how small businesses can make decent money and provide a decent lifestyle. It also might be able to provide more flexibility and autonomy than a corporate gig.

In what part of town do you live? (Don't necessarily need your address but we're thinking in terms of commute.) A perfect and motivated candidate with an hour-long commute might workcloser to our office would certainly be easier.
We will select the most promising candidates for phone interviews and then in person interviews. If you do not get called…It's only because we didn't guess that you'd be a good fit for the job. It may well be because you have a different skill set than this requires. It’s rarely a “rejection.” Send in a resume and note with info in the next section. More About Radon
The office work never goes anywhere near any Radon. Radon is basically low level radiation that comes from the decomposition of uranium in the soil. Long term exposure damages the tissues in your lungs and can lead to lung cancer at some point afterward. We put in vaccuum / suction / pressure modifying systems (with fans) that reduce the concentration of this low level radiation in people’s homes. We literally save people’s lives. But no one has ever thanked us for the lung cancer that they didn't get. And the day-to-day work can be a grind. We can do everything right and still not solve the problem on the first try. We are playing the odds and probabilities when we put in a system. But we have good install contractors and good odds. But we always keep working and working until we get it fixed. Usually this is free to the customer as part of our guarantee. There is literally a sign on the walls that says “We Want Happy Customers” But the situation can be frustrating for everyone involved including our office worker(s.)
