Auto Body Tech Position

Legacy Auto Collision has an immediate mid-level auto body tech position open. We are a busy family run shop and we value our employees. We have an experienced office of estimators and an excellent paint department.

This will be a full-time position; M-F, 8-5. Duties include repairing damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory, body shop specifications and time standards. Must be proficient in collision repair, hail damage and structural realignment. Must have tools, I-CAR training (willingness to acquire), and driver’s license (preferred).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Remove upholstery, accessories, electrical and hydraulic window and seat operating equipment, and trims to gain access to vehicle body and fenders.

Position the dolly block against the surface of the dented area and beat the opposite surface to remove dents, using a hammer.

Ability to fill depressions with body filler, using a putty knife or spreader.

Remove damaged fenders, panels, and grilles, using wrenches and cutting torches.

Bolt or weld replacement parts in position, using wrenches or welding equipment.

Straighten bent automobile frames, using a pneumatic frame straightening machine.

File, grind, and sand repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools.

Aim headlights.

Inspect painted units for runs, sags, and unpainted areas.

Hand-spray parts to cover unpainted areas or apply rust preventative.

Repair or replace defective mechanical parts.

Repair vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards.

Check parts against estimate and ensure proper parts are ordered and received.

Notify management of any additional repairs needed.

Notify management of any difficulties or problems that may prevent a quality job from being performed or cause a change in the promised time.

Maintain tools and equipment in a proper state of repair.

Maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, safety glasses, and hearing protection in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
