Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and responsible Bus Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing safe and reliable transportation services while ensuring a positive experience for passengers. This role requires excellent customer service skills, the ability to communicate effectively, and a strong understanding of safety regulations. The Bus Driver will transport school children, to and from school while maintaining a safe, clean and well-functioning vehicle.
Duties
Safely operate a bus on designated routes while adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations.
Ensure the comfort and safety of all passengers during transit.
Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, particularly those with special needs or disabilities (Paratransit experience is a plus).
Maintain a clean and mechanically sound vehicle by performing routine inspections and minor repairs as needed.
Communicate effectively with passengers, providing information about routes, schedules, and any necessary assistance.
Handle passenger inquiries and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.
Document daily activities, including mileage, passenger counts, and any incidents that occur during the shift.
Collaborate with dispatchers to report any issues or delays in service.
Qualifications
Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a bus.
Proven experience in commercial driving; familiarity with bus operations is preferred.
Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact positively with diverse groups of people.
Mechanical knowledge to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting is an advantage.
Experience working with seniors or children is beneficial for understanding the specific needs of these groups.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations professionally.
