POSITION OVERVIEW: The Ag Mechanic will develop a basic knowledge of mechanical and control systems, while assisting other service personnel in testing and assembling components and machines.
The mechanic may also perform pre-delivery service on new machines and assist with maintenance and repair of
existing ag equipment.
DESIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum three years of hands-on ag experience required
Necessary tools to perform job responsibilities
PERFORMANCE METRICS:
Perform and/or assist in the performance of general mechanical duties
Gain experience by working on the following items with minimal supervision: engine overhaul, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, and general maintenance
Work on major components with close supervision
Perform trouble shooting on minor problems
Attend training sessions and meetings.
Follows safe work practices and procedures, uses safety equipment when required, responds to suggestions for working safely and seeks assistance when necessary.
Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Perform moderate walking, standing, climbing, heavy lifting, carrying, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Work outside and inside, with greasy parts and tools while sometimes in awkward or uncomfortable positions, around moving objects, and with vehicles and machinery with moving parts. Occasional exposure to dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline and diesel fuels.
