The Henderson mine is an underground molybdenum mining operation located approximately 42 miles west of Denver and 10 miles west of Empire. It has been in operation since 1976 and today consists of a large block-cave, underground mining complex feeding a concentrator with a current capacity of approximately 32,000 metric tons per day. It can produce approximately 15 million pounds of molybdenum per year. The Henderson mill is located 15 miles west of the mine, between Dillon and Kremmling. Both sites are surrounded by US Forest Service (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USForestService)  land of the Arapaho National Forest (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ArapahoNationalForest) , making it easy for our employees and their families to enjoy year-round hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing in the area. Explore the opportunity to advance your career at one of our sites – the Henderson mine or mill and live life at the top!  DescriptionUnder general supervision, provides technical support and guidance for Environmental projects and programs at assigned site.

Installs, operates, and maintains environmental and emission monitoring instruments and testing equipment; analyzes data for compliance with regulatory requirements

Evaluates and assesses environmental risk and develops programs for risk reduction

Collaborates in recommending appropriate action to management in compliance with regulations

Reviews and/or prepares and maintains detailed records and files of environmental data and communications

Evaluates and administers contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment

Maintains basic working knowledge of national, regional and local environmental, occupational health, and other applicable regulations

Maintains knowledge of site environmental policies and procedures

May provide leadership to less experienced Engineers and Technicians

May serve as Project Manager or technical expert on small to medium-sized environmental projects (e.g., compliance, remediation, or reclamation)

Leads or participates in regular audits and inspections of operations areas for purposes of ensuring compliance with site environmental policies, procedures and requirements of the Environmental Management System

Coordinates the timely recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets in compliance with applicable legal and other requirements

Tracks and reports the recycling and disposition of materials and other company assets as directed

Performs other duties as assigned

QualificationsMinimum Requirements:

Environmental Scientist II:

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related natural science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry, Agriculture, Meteorology, Environmental/Natural Resource Management) or Mathematics/Computer Science including Accounting and Finance, or, Business Management or other Bachelor’s degree, and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR

Master’s degree in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.

OR

Environmental Engineer II:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar) and at least three (3) years environmental or related experience, OR

Master’s degree in Engineering in a related field and at least one (1) year environmental or related experience.

Applies to both positions above:

Additional certification or licensure appropriate to the job may be required or preferred: (US Examples include: HAZWOPER, Method 9, DOT, EMS Auditor, Asbestos, Water Treatment Operator, or CHMM.)

Preferred Qualifications:

Colorado Certified Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) at or above the following levels or ability to obtain certification within 1 year of employment:

Industrial Wastewater Treatment Class BWater Treatment Class BWater Distribution Class 1Domestic Wastewater Treatment Class CDomestic Wastewater Collection Class 1

Demonstration of critical thinking skills such as analyzing operational data to determine changes and improvements for more efficient operation

Can independently maintain a compliance schedule and associated sampling obligations

Experience supervising personnel (preferably water operators related to water treatment facilities)

Experience with internal and external stakeholder engagement such as maintenance departments and regulatory agencies, respectively

Ideal candidate can demonstrate definitive decisions for necessary operational or mechanical adjustments to stakeholders

Experience with standard operating procedures (SOPs) for optimal system operation and ability to develop or update existing documents

Be able to provide cross-training to operators

Be able to continue to stay informed about the latest operational and regulatory requirements and should maintain their licenses/certifications to operate the system more effectively and ensure system compliance

Experience assisting in the planning associated with construction, operation, and maintenance of a water or wastewater facility

Ability to support other Colorado operations as needed

Criteria/Conditions

Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English

Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see

Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday

Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required

What We Offer YouThe estimated annual pay range for this role is currently  $79,000-$109,000 .  This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors.
