JOB SUMMARY A true Infrastructure Architect role as part of the Infrastructure Architecture & Engineering team within Charter, the set of services to be provided include engineering and implementation of new solutions in the IAE Lab and assisting Architects to PoC new technologies.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform PoC of new technologies
Define the road map for Storage
Anticipates how changes in the competitive landscape can affect Charter from both the business and technical perspective
Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
Assigned complex and critical projects that involve several technical systems and constituents.
Designs, implements, monitors, enhances and troubleshoots systems in assigned areas.
Analyzes and revises existing system logic difficulties and documentation as necessary.
Tests and reviews system designs.
Provides Engineering Technical support and guidance to regional personnel and ensure all technical integration, changes, standards and documentation are met.
Mentors and guides the work of senior technical staff.
Reviews work plans and designs and advises on improvements.
Adheres to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Knows, understands and follows company policy.
Performs other duties as requested by manager
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and Knowledge Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner Expert level Data Center architectural design and hands-on engineering experience Expert level knowledge of and experience with Virtualization Networking, and Linux Strong working knowledge of and experience with Storage Networking. Design, testing, and implementation of the Data Center network service to partition the data-center edge from the data-center core in partnership with the Network Security Engineer. Experience with strategic architecture and roadmap development (1-year and 3-year Data Center network outlook) Overall familiarity with hardware infrastructure with a specific focus on storage platforms and technologies. This includes sizing, design, deployment, configuration and support for storage deployed for the purpose of hosting large-scale virtual environments. Experience should also include designs and deployments that consider storage replication, high availability and business continuity / disaster recovery. Strong working knowledge: Open Systems: Server Hardware Vendors (HP, Dell, IBM, Cisco), Physical Servers and Blade Technology Backup Technologies (Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Dell Power Protect, Rubrik, Cohesity) Storage Platforms (Dell/EMC, Pure Storage, IBM, Netapp) Storage Networking (Fiber Channel and IP) Cloud/Virtualization (Amazon AWX, Azure, VMWare, OpenStack)
Education Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and related work experience. Master's degree preferred
