Description Location: UCHealth Poudre Valley Hospital, US:CO:Fort CollinsDepartment: PVH Donor CentersFTE: Full Time, 0.8, 64.00 hours per pay period (2 weeks)Shift: Flex Pay: $19.67 - $25.57 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experienceSummary:Performs whole blood collection and apheresis procedures according to established regulatory requirements. Coordinates and implements procedures involved in evaluation, collection, processing of products and care of donors/patients. Drives to and hosts mobile blood drives to qualify and collect blood from donors in and outside the community.Responsibilities:

Qualifies donors according to established regulatory and laboratory guidelines through questionnaire review and clarification as well as evaluation of vitals.

Performs waived and moderate complexity testing in order to ensure the pre-donation safety of donors.

Executes whole blood collections and apheresis procurement of platelets, plasma, and red blood cells in accordance with AABB and FDA guidelines.

Processes, labels, stores, and ships blood components in accordance with regulatory guidelines.

Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

High School diploma or GED.

BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire.

The incumbent functions as a biologist in the Wildlife Genetics Project. Responsibilities The duties described are for the full-performance level. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement, including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates: Tracked wildlife samples from receipt, through testing, to reporting using database software. Experience with database management is desirable. Must have performed specialized technical laboratory procedures, including DNA extractions from environmental DNA samples. Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and quantitative PCR (qPCR) for analysis of environmental samples is required as well as basic analysis of data generated from these processes. Next-generation sequencing library preparation. Must have experience identifying, analyzing, and troubleshooting problems (optimizing, developing new assay) encountered with qPCR.
