PLACE is a unit within the Office of International Programs at Colorado State University, and is comprised of two main activities:The Intensive English Program ( IEP ): The IEP offers rigorous, student-centered English language instruction that prepares international students for success in their university studies. It creates a welcoming environment for both learning and living in a new culture, where all feel safe and supported. The IEP serves international students who are preparing to study at Colorado State University. Instruction is delivered in a full-time, intensive format. Core instructional offerings include multiple levels of reading and writing, speaking and listening, and grammar. The IEP is accredited by CEA .Customized Group Programs: PLACE seeks to develop innovative language learning and cultural programs through grant-writing and entrepreneurial initiatives designed for local and international audiences. This support will include a range of activities, such as leading orientations and tours, connecting students and their families to resources both on and off campus, and conducting virtual and in-person advising. The person in this role may also hold workshops on cultural topics of interest to be dictated by student need. The Cultural Advisor will report to the Associate Director of PLACE . This is a temporary, non-student hourly position.Position Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Fluency in Arabic
Demonstrated experience working with students and/or professionals from Saudi Arabia
Demonstrated experience presenting and leading events such as orientations or workshops
Strong cultural knowledge of both U.S. and Saudi Arabian populations
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree
Experience working at a college or university
Experience living in Saudi Arabia
Familiarity with relevant technology, including student management systems
