Advanced Energy has devoted four decades to perfecting power for its global customers and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.POSITION SUMMARY:Advanced Energy is looking for an experienced and proven multi-discipline Senior Design Engineer (RF or Power Supply) for its New Product Development (NPD) team to manage the product launch of RF Generator Systems used in Plasma Power applications.The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading design efforts with a multi-disciplined product delivery team of RF, Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineers and coordinate with other cross functional teams to launch new design. Designs can be full product delivery or sub system design as part of a larger team. The Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading the product development projects while delivering on time to commitments. Prior experience in industrial RF power and/or high-power power supply design is preferred.RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be a critical member of the advanced development engineering team.

Lead RF designs with a cross-functional team (direct and indirect resources) to complete product (subsystems and/or complete product) delivery to the customer, internal or external, that meets their expectations and is delivered on time following our design process.

Provide technical leadership to the team on the design of new subsystems, products and platforms including helping refine high level requirements and allocate detailed requirements to product modules and components. Implement best practices within a cross-function design team to support appropriate level of process and review of the design process.

Work with our New Product Development (NPD) team to review technology’s readiness to launch into new products. Work with other cross functional teams such as our NPI, purchasing, quality, program & project management, finance, safety, production, and other teams as needed.

Build peer-to-peer relationships within AE.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Location: Fort Collins, Colorado

Environment: Office setting and lab

In office first with flexibility

Ability to travel within US and abroad for short periods of time (as needed)

QUALIFICATIONS:

Technical experience in several of the following design areas and skills: The proven ability to analyze, prototype, simulate, and validate circuit designs. Experience using simulation tools – LT Spice, Ansys EDT (HFSS, 3D Layout and Icepak), Keysight ADS, etc.

High power RF design expertise (400kHz to 120MHz) including Driver/Exciter, Combiner/Splitter, Measurement (V/I Sensor, Directional Coupler), RF layout, filter design, and impedance Matching.

Power electronics design and power device selection: Si MOSFETs, SiC MOSFETS, GaN, LDMOS

Testing and debug using common lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, function generators, JTAG or similar tools, etc.

Schematic capture and PCBA layout (experience with Altium® Designer a plus).

Control loop design and theory

Basic programming or scripting skills with Python and/or MATLAB.

Thermal management, heat sink and cooling design

Experience with UL/CSA compliance.

Proven track record of getting products to market and providing technical leadership. Be a creative problem solver with a focus on quality, safety, cost, and delivery schedules. Strong team player skills and attitude.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in related industries preferably working with industrial RF and/or power electronics, but other relevant industry experience will be considered. (3 years’ experience with Master’s degree)

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical degree

COMPENSATION:As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
