I am looking to hire a PCA full-time to cover Thursdays from 3pm to 9pm, and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, from 9am-9pm.
Tasks include cleaning, helping with personal care, light food prep, laundry, organization, errands, and similar activities. You would also be required to drive me to appointments and other places in my wheelchair accessible minivan a few times per week, both locally and to Denver. I get regular deliveries of medical supplies, and you must be able to lift and move six or so boxes once a week, that may weigh up to 30 lbs each. This is not a "clinical" job, as I manage all of my healthcare needs. I will train you on how to perform any tasks required, and previous experience isn't necessary.
Qualifications:
- Any gender
- Not a tobacco user (I’m very allergic)
- Reliable transportation
- Clean driving record and valid driver's license
- Comfortable with driving me to Denver regularly in my accessible minivan
- Positive attitude and open to diversity
- Comfort with Personal Care tasks, like helping me shower and get dressed
- Prompt and Reliable
- Able to Follow Verbal Directions
- Not afraid to ask questions
- Good Sense of Humor
- Detail-Oriented, Quick Learner
- Strong Communication Skills
- Fluent in English
- Legally able to work in Colorado
- Strong References
Pay is $27/hr to start, and this is a long-term position. I work with a financial management service to handle payroll and taxes, and direct deposit is available as a payment option. Current CPR and Community First Aid certification is preferred, but not required. Email me using the button above and I will send you a link to my online application. Please include a phone number in your email, or I will assume the email is spam. I am able to hire quickly for the right candidate, and applications will be reviewed as they are received.
I am also always interested in hiring people as backup aides - for when another PCA is unable to work or if I need additional help. If you are interested and would like to know more, contact me through the button above.
I am a queer woman in her 40s, with multiple, severe disabilities, and live independently in the community with the help of Personal Care Attendants (PCAs). This allows me to do work in improving healthcare and prescription access in Colorado, as well as disability rights work nationally. I am also a photographer, and starting a new photo project I'm really excited about. Hiring people to come into my home and work for me is not easy, especially with my disabilities and being autistic. I have to be able to trust my aides with (at least knowledge of) most aspects of my life.
I am allergic to a number of things as a result of one of my medical conditions. This includes tobacco smoke and any traces of it, most scents and perfumes (including essential oils), some laundry detergents, foods, personal care products, and more. You would have to be willing to work with me to find ways to minimize allergic reactions, which could involve changing your laundry detergent or washing a special set of clothes, among other things.
This is a great position for students! There is down-time during shifts, and you would be free to work on homework or other, quiet, activities if not much is going on.
If this post is active, the position is still available. Thank you for your interest!
