Job Purpose: The Asphalt Raker assists in all aspects of the daily operations of the paving crew.
Duties and Responsibilities:
At the beginning of every shift get hand tools ready, ensure that all small equipment is fueled up, and get all tools on the paver.
At the beginning of every shift prepare sweeping, using a broom or blower, and layout for tacking and paving.
Take an active part in the daily Job Safety Analysis. Be aware of safety issues on the job site, traffic and paving pulls.
Be prepared to rake or shovel asphalt when paving starts. Help paving foreman with layout.
Be prepared to assist Screed Operators as needed.
At the end of every shift start sweep and cleanup.
At the end of every shift make sure all tools are picked up and loaded on the truck.
Check with foreman on job location for next day.
May operate skid steer or roller.
Mobilize heavy equipment from one location to another on a public roadway.
Work safely at all times, observing all CRI Policies, OSHA Regulations, and Site Specific requirements and policies.
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred but not required.
Specialized knowledge: None
Skills: Must be physically fit and able to work in extreme weather conditions.
Abilities: Communicate effectively with others; able to clearly lead/direct operations involving multiple pieces of equipment; can learn and retain new skills. Work long days on your feet, consistently do bending, lifting, shoveling and raking on hot asphalt.
Professional Certification: Valid drivers' license
Experience: No specific experience required.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
