Head Secretary

Summary:

The Middle School Head Secretary is responsible for performing clerical duties for a school including answering and routing calls, greeting and directing visitors, typing correspondence, entering data, operating office equipment, and providing support to students, staff, families, and visitors to promote a positive schooling environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

Receives calls, greets visitors, and answers inquiries

Directs calls and visitors to the appropriate person as necessary

Assists visitors with check-in

Enter data in the student information system and maintain student records

Monitor and enter student absence information

Provide first aid and administer student medications, adhering to District and state policies

Inventory and stock office supplies and other educational materials

Assist in scheduling meetings, trainings, special events and appointments in the building

Sort, distribute, and prepare mailings

Send out messages to parents via email or Infinite Campus Messenger

Assist with creating school newsletters and updating the school website and Facebook page

Communicates with parents in the event of late buses, emergencies, etc.

Maintains petty cash

Enters purchase requisitions

Assists with monitoring employee absences and arranging substitutes

Assists with student supervision

Any and all other duties as assigned

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent

Previous administrative/clerical experience preferred, but not required

Candidate must be outgoing and have a positive personality

Candidate must have strong self-initiative, organizational, and multi-tasking skills

Candidate must be proficient in technology, including Microsoft Office, email, etc.

Salary and Benefits:

The hourly rate for this position is $17.25 to $18.75 per hour depending on years of relevant experience.See the Classified Salary Schedule under “Work for Weld Re-9” at weldre9.org. This position works August-May (Approximately 200 contract days per academic year). The district provides health insurance benefits including your choice of three insurance plans (or keep your current insurance and receive a stipend!), dental and vision, PERA retirement plan, life insurance, long-term disability, an optional supplemental 401(k) plan, an employee assistance plan, and the ability to enroll in supplemental insurances and savings accounts through a third-party vendor. The Weld Re-9 School District offers a tuition reimbursement program for individuals wanting to continue their education. This position offers sick and personal leaves.
