Make someone's day by receiving shipments and unloading, organizing and arranging products so they are quicker to reach the sales floor for our customers at JAX! Part of great customer service is getting the right product to the right place at the right time, which is an essential responsibility for this position.
Our Receivers are responsible for accurately receiving and distributing shipments of products from our vendors, unloading product, splitting up orders, sending them to our stores, returning defective items to vendors, processing store transfers, and carefully packaging and shipping web orders for their location. This position will work in our Distribution Center individually or in a small team, so preferred candidates are trustworthy, self-motivated and can take initiative to be productive or solve problems. All JAX employees are expected to provide excellent customer service, engaging with people and sharing excitement about our store. Responsibilities include tracking and reconciling computer records for received product, assisting the store management team, and communicating directly with Department Managers and the Buyers Team so our stores remain stocked with only the best products our customers have come to expect from JAX. In general, tasks may include:
Receiving, unpacking, and examining goods shipped, checking shipments for discrepancies
Verifying completeness of shipments against bills of lading, invoices and other records
Accurately processing documentation and completing records
Printing barcodes for items without tags
Packaging, fulfilling, and shipping web orders
Maintaining a clean and well-stocked area
Stocking and loading out items including 50-pound bags of feed
Complete record-keeping tasks and contributing to reports
Assisting in loss prevention efforts
Communicating professionally with delivery contacts, staff in other departments, vendors, and customers
Presenting a professional appearance and demeanor
Taking steps to advance teamwork and develop solid working relationships with co-workers
Filling a pivotal role in the inventory process
Maintains forklift certification
Follows all JAX Safety procedures
Our ideal candidate has prior customer service experience, and is willing to pitch-in where needed. Additional knowledge, skills or abilities include:
Previous knowledge or experience with shipping, receiving or warehouse work required
Ability to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis required for moving products for the store
Requires the ability to meet the minimum qualifications to handle or sell firearms for a firearms dealer (be 18 years or older, pass a training course and a fingerprint-based background check)
Experience using a pallet jack or forklift is helpful, but will be trained
Computer proficiency required - must be able to learn new systems quickly
