Responsibilities:
-Install wire, grid, and acoustical tile for suspended ceilings following company policy, industry standards, and manufacturer guidelines.
-Accurately measure height, width, length, and other proportions for installations.
-Perform basic material take-off to ensure proper material selection and quantity needed.
-Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors to perform proper layout for installations.
-Utilize appropriate tools to build or repair structural components using materials such as wood, metal, plastic, fiberglass, and drywall.
-Join materials with nails, screws, staples, or adhesives and ensure everything is level and secure using levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and lasers.
-Install all types of ceiling grid systems, including standard, slotted, and specialty products.
-Inspect drywall partitions, mechanical mountings, and masonry surfaces for plumb and level using a laser level.
-Hang or mechanically fasten support wires for acoustical ceiling grid from building structure.
-Provide training and support to Apprentices and other Journeymen in safe work habits and company policies.
-Maintain company equipment and tools, ensuring they are used as intended and perform preventive maintenance as required.
-Ensure compliance with company safety procedures and policies.
-Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
-Maintain records of tasks and material quantities and complete all necessary paperwork in a timely manner.
-Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends, and varying work schedules.
-Attendance, punctuality, and reliability are essential responsibilities.
Qualifications:
-Three years of experience as an Apprentice in commercial suspended ceiling installation.
-Excellent understanding and practical experience in installing suspended ceilings.
-Knowledge and experience working with carpentry tools and building materials.
-Ability and knowledge to train direct reports in the installation of suspended ceilings.
-Knowledge and understanding of construction safety devices and PPE.
-Ability to read, interpret, and explain plans to direct reports.
-Ability to communicate assignments in English to direct reports.
-High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred, but not required:
-Experience and knowledge of acoustical ceiling products.
-Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish.
