Position: Director of Music
Purpose: Tend to the role of music in the life of our church community.
Music is an important part of our life together as a church, especially Sunday mornings. The ideal candidate can sing, is proficient with at least one instrument (preferably piano), loves music, loves helping a community join together in song, and loves God.
We are accustomed to different kinds of songs, hymns and praise tunes. We delight in songs that are singable, understandable, and appropriate for worship.
Music is not limited to Sunday mornings. With the new director, we as a community would like to explore simple song writing, ways of supporting local musicians, and connecting us all more deeply to the many ways in which music helps us “pray twice” (St Augustine).
Working Relationships:
1. Reports to Pastor
2. Works closely with Pastor, other staff, Council, and congregation.
Hours per week: 10
Compensation based on experience
General Responsibilities:
1. Oversee a ministry of music consistent with the overall vision and mission of Peak Community Church.
2. Lead Sunday morning music.
3. Recruit and equip musicians to share their gifts.
4. Oversee music for special services (Advent, Christmas, Easter, etc.).
5. Engage in continuing education as schedule and budget allow.
6. Attend all staff meetings.
