We value the opportunity to consider those who believe they have the necessary skills and ambition to succeed at NREL.Job DescriptionThe Accelerated Deployment and Decision Support (ADDS) Center at NREL is seeking a technically-focused and experienced research analyst in solar energy systems cost modeling and component analysis focused on inverter components. The mid-level position will involve leading work in three inter-related areas: (1) developing technical cost models to analyze the costs of solar and battery solar power electronics systems, (2) analyze and report on the domestic supply chain (including imports), including principal suppliers of products and components, (3) working with internal and external partners to collect primary data to populate the models, and (4) utilizing the models to support the evaluation of targeted R&D opportunities, technology advancements, and manufacturing developments as they relate to a range of market and policy issues. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to combine scientific,engineering, and economics perspectives with excellent work habits, communication skills, and quantitativeanalysis capabilities. This position can be located at NREL’s Golden, CO or Washington, DC offices. Fully remote options exist depending on background and experience.More specifically, this position will provide expertise and support in the following ways: Lead manufacturing cost and balance of system cost model development and supply chain analysis for residential-, commercial-, and utility-scale solar and storage inverter technologies.At either level, the selected candidate will lead analysis to collect data and information on solar power electronics technology manufacturing and installation processes and costs; evaluate trade and manufacturing issues related to solar power electronics technologies; identify opportunities for component-, system-, and operations-level cost reductions.; interpret model results for policy, market, economic and/or technology analysis.

Utilize models in support of both internal and external R&D planning and evaluation through collaboration with other national labs, universities, and industrial partners.

Publish results in technical reports, conference proceedings, and journals.

Present work at conferences, symposiums, and review meetings.

Support inquiries from the US Dept. of Energy and related clients.

.Basic QualificationsResearcher III- Relevant PhD . Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience . Or, relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience . Demonstrates broad understanding and wide application of engineering technical procedures, principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Demonstrates leadership in one or more areas of team, task or project lead responsibilities. Demonstrated experience in management of projects. Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated full knowledge of policies, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to supply chain.

Prior direct experience with the manufacturing, use and components of solar and storage inverters.

Experience related to the technical evaluation of manufacturing clean energy technologies and supply chain analysis.

Demonstrated knowledge of practices, techniques, and problem-solving methodologies in bottom-up technology cost modeling.

Direct experience in inverter and power electronics specifications or analysis of solar supply chains preferred.

Strong technology bench marking and valuation skills, as well as market analysis and primary information collection experience to support strategic investments and R&D decisions.

Experience managing projects.
