The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, a focus on impactful solutions, a growth mindset, and excellent collaboration and communication skills. This role involves working with an innovative research team to advance hydrogen systems analysis from generation to end-use.About the RoleThe MIIA group conducts comprehensive analyses and models advanced energy systems to address research questions from various federal and state clients. The successful candidate will have a robust background in integrated modeling and techno-economic analysis of hydrogen systems, encompassing the entire value chain from hydrogen generation to end-use applications. Practical knowledge of hydrogen systems analysis, experience in developing software tools, and excellent communication skills are essential.Key Responsibilities

Conduct economic impact assessments of hydrogen systems, including generation, storage, distribution, and end-use.

Utilization of cost models for hydrogen systems, from generation to end-use, collaborating with national labs, industry stakeholders, and the Department of Energy.

Integrate these models into detailed energy systems to evaluate the costs, opportunities, and overall value proposition of hydrogen systems.

Qualifications

PhD with a strong background in engineering, transportation infrastructure, energy system modeling, optimization, and/or techno-economic analysis.

Demonstrated experience in developing integrated models and techno-economic analyses for hydrogen systems.

Proficiency in one or more advanced programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Julia, R).

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other Responsibilities

Review the literature and analyze the current landscape of hydrogen systems, from generation to end-use.

Support senior researchers in various techno-economic analysis tasks

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams from industry, government, and academia to enhance modeling techniques for hydrogen systems.

Where applicable, publish research findings in top technical journals and present work at conferences, symposiums, and sponsored review meetings.
